Hey everyone,

I know its early, but if anyone has anything arranged, (maybe had someone drop out) or would like to maybe organise some early season riding, let me know.

Or a suggestion in terms companies that organise solo traveller trips that would be very much appreciated.

A week or long weekend is what I am looking for.

To anyone who has been away Nov or Dec - Any advice about places to go? Snowsure spots?

In a nutshell - I am desperate to get on a mountain!!!!!

Thanks a lot,

Nick

Hey Nick ... I reckon great minds think alike I started this thread a while back and that rapidly changed my mind for going in late Nov/early Dec thread instead of an Oct

We've booked the last few days of Nov and into Dec & I can't wait for our time off ... just need that snow to start comin' We're not actually going to book anything until we see some snow falling, prob late Oct at the earliest ... makes it more exciting really

did a long weekend a couple of years ago in austria before xmas - brilliant, loads of snow, but think it was the year austria got a pretty big dump pre xmas.
drove out to les deux alps last december - different story. everywhere else was getting snowed on, even back home. didn't get a lot there that early, guess its a bit too far south

i have been looking at trips away on www.snowcoach.co.uk for next year, but i'm pretty sure they will do late this year too - looks like a really good price and my brother in law has used them before and gave nothing but positive feedback. They do long weekends to full weeks away, bonus being you get an extra day boarding because the last day you leave in the evening on the coach, so you can spend that last day on the slope

Might be giving my secret stash away, but seeing as your all you.....

Try the Stubai glacier in Austria. Dead easy to get to and cheap! Flight to Innsbruck or Munich(cheaper - then train to Innsbruck - 3hrs). Bus up the valley from Innsbruck. Cost me about £150 to get there last year. You can get a chalet for around 20-25euros per person per night. Speak to the tourist office in Neustift - that is the largest town in the valley and the hub of most things. Good, reliable (if scary driving) bus network to get you from almost anywhere in the valley up to the glacier. Last couple of years there has been a LOT of snow in early December.

Only downside might be that the Army Snowboarding Championships are taking place around that time! Usually around 150 competitors upwards. Depends if you want to put up with a load of load soldiers in the Dorf pub in the evenings! Plus side is you can watch people breaking themselves and enjoying it! One of the best parks I have ever ridden. UK pro Nelson Pratt said it was 'world class' last spring when he was there doing some coaching. High praise indeed.

Thanks for the heads-up markmogt, I'll see what I can find on the web info wise ... think we're going to hang on until we know where there's definitely snow & then make a B-line for it
