As Mini says, Companies House are very strict on the use of suffix Ltd/Limited as it implies the company is a Limited Company. A quick check on Companies House reveals that there is no company registered under the name Sno-Age or any other derivitive. Whether it was done unintentionally or not it is likely that Companies House would act against such a use of the suffix Ltd/Limited.

I enjoy their tweets and news information.

If anyone on the site receives threatening or abusive messages, these should be forwarded to a moderator or administrator so that they can be dealt with accordingly, as it is against the T&C's of the site.

Seems a bit harsh to be kicked out for asking questions, sounds like either:-

- you were asking questions they didn't want to answer; or
- you weren't asking them in a very nice way

To part-answer your question, Sno-Age Limited or Sno-Age Ltd are not Registered Companies in England and Wales, Sno Limited is however and would appear to be the company which is being talked about

I may be completely wrong, but I imagine from what I have read that it is a profit-making company

EDIT: ignore me, fatbob got there first!

I'm sure the name is just a play on words isn't it? Sno-age Ltd was kind of just a twist on No age limit, as in there is no age limit on snowboarding/skiing? Thats good news for me. Turned 31 yesterday

From what I gather it was a play on 'No Age Limit'. I doubt Companies House would see it that way and as mini says, a name change would probably be a good idea to avoid any unpleasant letter/fine, etc.

A registered Limited company needs to be registered with Companies House as such. The company requires at least a shareholder (with shares in the company who is subsequently a Director) and a company secretary. The company has to pay £15 a year to be registered and has to submit abbreviated yearly accounts that are visible to all (costs £1 to buy accounts on Companies House). You can also have a company by association of which BASI is one.

I was completly polite in the way I asked .

I am not really botherd about the name I am more concerned that if they are a profit making organisation they should say so they both publicly denied it being a company yesterday and claimed all profits go into the maintaining the website http://www.sno-ageltd.co.uk/ .If you look at that website its almost bare most of there webwork is on facebook or twitter which is free.

their website is cms powered by drupal , setting one up takes maybe an evening, then adding a new article or photo is quite simple.

They could though be paying someone to do this for them and thats a sure fire way of spending money quickly.

But, if they are providing a service, and havent ripped anyone off does it really matter if they are putting some beer money in their pockets?
