Mountain Mavericks in Morzine are amazing. Snowboarder run company but thoroughly welcoming to skiiers as well. It was fantastic getting guided tours by snowboarders, who knew exactly what your needs were and how to fulfull them. And that's what you're looking for when you chose a boarding company.
The staff were absolutely lovely and so helpful. Food and chalet the nicest I've ever experienced in a ski resort, and I've been in loads. I emailed them last week to ask for advice about something and they got straight back to me.
Couldn't recommend staying with them enough. |

QUOTE (MrSSK - 26/06/2009 @ 23:28) Do you not know that there are ski forums out there? or are they full of old fuddy dudys? Hahaha have you been on a ski forum lately? They're full of prepubescent skiiers who think they're gangster
This thread is stupid. If you didn't like a chalet then name and shame. Complaining about a company/chalet but not naming it is useless as it serves no purpose! If more people actually boycotted chalets that are crap then those chalets would go under or be forced to change so that they aren't crap anymore. Or maybe you just had a bad week at a chalet that everyone else thinks is good.
Either way, not naming the chalet just makes you sound like a whinging old fuddy duddy |

She has got a point though. If you've had trouble with a company then its because the company was crap, not because it was run by snowboarders. I mean if you went to a shop that was run by Albanians and had bad service you wouldn't go round asking if anyone else had had trouble with Albanian run shops would you, you'd just go 'oh that as a crap shop wasn't it". |

Yes and my problems with the company are between me and them and I have taken this up with them. The point of the thread was have other people had similiar experiences and it would seem many have. We will all vote with our wallets when next season comes round based on our experiences before. My experience was that the company was being run to enable its owners to spend the season snowboarding regardless of whether their guests were enjoying their stay or not (in my opinion). However someone else could stay there and feel fair play to them, they're "living the dream" .What I'm trying to say is that peoples perception of the same situation may not be the same, so why should I say to you dont stay with them as you might enjoy. Quite how the thread got onto the old skier V boarder hater thing with a bit of fashion thrown in I'll never know.
Gotta get back to my bovril!!! |

I think Gazar has done the rignt thing by NOT naming straight away.
I think too many people are too quick to slag off companies without first trying to properly resolve the situation privately. Only after that has failed should you then "out" the company.
I've read complaints on GB and other forums, which seem a bit unfair to the company in question, and I'm sure would have been quickly resolved, had they spoken directly with the company in question. |

I'm sure when Jonny set up Ride&Slide he asked the forum's opinion as to what they expected from a chalet holiday. I'm therefore not suprised they now have 4 chalets they offer.

To be honest from what I've learned I think as long as you avoid pygmie Albanians you should be ok. |

Please don’t stone me or call me names but I agree with SSK.
I wasn't trying to have a cheap shot at skiers. I was merely trying to pointing out that's it not just boarders that can be a bit slack from time to time.
But I do think we should name and shame them or companies will never know how and where to improve? |

we've been through this before on here, you have to be very carefull naming and shaming companies on forums, you can get into dodgy legal ground there. Often people will slag off a company without giving a fair and rounded opinion, often saying stuff that is very much a matter of opinion as if it was fact. |

There's no point in going on forums and saying Burton is sh*t just because you mate told you so but if have had issues with them then fair play.
if you have had a bad experience you had a bad experience there's nothing wrong with sharing the truth. |

Yup indeed, problem is in the past there have been cases on several forums where people have exagerated or said stuff about companies that wasn't strictly true. Its a tricky subject, what exactly is the truth. Often the truth is very much a matter of opinion |
