Hi all,
I have just got back from my first week snowboarding in La Rosiere and loved it.
I have def got the snowboard bug. I was just wondering what the best snowboard size would be for me?
I am about 5 foot 10 ", 11 stone and have size seven feet.
I hope someone can help. |

Hi mate. There are quite a few things to consider when buying a board. For example, depends what you like to ride ie piste, park, powder etc, whether you care what brand it is, etc etc
The type of riding you do, or plan to do in your case, will determine the flex of a board and a few other things, but also the length. Generally, if you are looking to do more freestyle stuff, you will want a shorter board, for powder riding, a longer board.
WIth all of these things to consider, the best advice I could give you would be to get a hold of the WHitelines Buyers Guide, or even better, go to your local store and speak to somebody who knows what they are talking about. ALso well worth trying out a board before buying it if possible. If you have a SNo ZOne nearby, there will no doubt be some stores in the centre that will let you demo a couple of boards. |

as a general guide for you though,
154-156 freestyle
157-158 all mountain
159-161 powder
these are approx, but i'd say for your "everything" kind of riding you should be looking at the 157-158 mark (but check the weight ranges on the boards as they can all differ slightly)

Thanks lads,
Suppose all boards are dif, you just need to get used to it. is it true that you messure boards to between your chin and nose? I dont really understand the weight thing...............? |

forget that chin and nose stuff........a board cant tell how tall you are..
its most important that you fall betweent he weight guidelines of the board for your correct size board, generally the board will then have the right length too unless you are 3 feet tall and 20 stone etc..... which you are not.
if you are on a board that has the correct weight for you (or visa versa?) it will enable the board to ride work in the correct way it was designed.

Ok mate thanks, I suppose its best to go to a shop and get them to work it out for me.
Then get the correct size board cheaper on the internet, with any luck?
I have only boarded for a week and loved it. I just want to get up the mountain again. I have def got the bug.
