Might not have anyone here that can help me, but worth a try. I'm after experiance/advice on settings fo rSanyo xacti to use on snow. I already know about the 'snow mode' So things like focus mode, filtering & that sort of info would be useful
I've got the VPC-CA8 for this season. Although I accept no-one might have one. I'd expect the setting resuilts depending on the model, will be similar.

I'm having a hard time trying each setting & noticing much change. Also on the xacti range, if you pull the battery you loose any settings, although there easy to put back.
I go out on the 13th, so I'd be able to give you an update before you pull the trigger if you can wait. As I said the Xacti range do have a 'snow mode'. I did look at the CA9 but I could not afford it, got mine off the bay for £120. I'm not convinced about the HD image on the CA9 either.
I wanted a unit that took good stills & video's & would handle snow/cold/humidity.Also avoids the off angled shots of a head cam.
My pal's just sent me some clips from his contourHD, very impressed. Although out of my budget & doesn't fill my other needs. May club together with the guys & buy one for the next trip. |

got a xacti hd800 off the bay and it works the business in snow, my computer sucks so cant handle the hd footage so i film in super high quality which is pretty sick and then the hr for 60fps slow mo, and it works grand for filming snowboarding so far, the image stabilisation isnt fantastic but it does the trick for what i need, and if your filming jumps or rails from stationary its not an issue. |

Hi guys camera is working quite well & the battery lasts longer than I thought in the cold.

Yeah the camera did a better job than I thought. It's a bit slow on the auto focus/aperture.
Had a great day with you, Brevent after the snow was good on Saturday too.
