Just bought a Salomon Sick Stick, anyone ridden one yet? My Prospect LTD (160) finally met it's match at Alphabet Chutes this weekend, and hope the powder hype on the Sick Stick is as good as claimed.

Cheers!

Interested to hear your thoughts on it, once you've got out and ridden it your sen. Was eyeing one up a while back. Let us know your thoughts.

Sick Stick is a legendary back country board.

Didn't it just come out in 08? That's a speedy rise to legendary status.

Nick, what size do you ride? You mention it's good on powder, what sort of conditions have you ridden it in?

Been fortunate to demo the 160 for the last two winters and I can say it's a great fun board on piste and off piste (obviously). felt as manouvarble as a much shorter board so it rode like a typical 155.

It also seemed small under foot. Im desperate to try the 163 as if it's still a short turning board I would prefer the longer one. So has anyone tried both the 163 & 160 who could comment on them?

Hi,

Ive done about 15wks on my Sick Stick now and have to say its an awesome board. Obviously its pointed and dirrectional with a larger nose and a skinnier tail, so it has a clear design emphasis on riding powder well. But comments like pointless on piste is probably the most stupid thing ive heard.

The board EXCELS in the powder
Is good on piste, holds an edge pretty well although is not that fast
Has a very soft flex, so much so that if it didnt have a pointed nose and you tried it you would think that its a slightly soft allround board with more emphasis on park/fun/buttering etc..

The comment about feels big I sort of agree with - possibly because it is directional with a slight setback, so the nose would feel large compared to a normal centered twin, but mine is a 160 and standing right next to my 158 Custom x looks practically identical in length. Its still pretty maneouverable though, just has loads of float.

The board is an excellent allrounder, the only thing it is not is a fast charger or pipe board - its a bit too slow and way too soft. The softness however makes this board really fun to ride, and that is why it has a growing status and is considered a great board. Awesome FUN board (aint that what snowboardings meant to be about anyway?!).

Ive been riding it 90% of this season in Chamonix, off and on piste, and there have only been a couple of occasions when I thought that the Custom X would be the better choice.

The board is awesome and if you researched before you bought it and thought that this board would suit your needs, then you wont be disappointed.

Although I will agree with the pointless on piste comment if you are only going to use it on piste, as there are obviously better alternatives out there.

as i said, ive seen people buying them who might only ride powder for the odd moment here and there at the side of the piste but spend almost all of their time on piste and for that its a pointless board to buy.
