Has anybody been there in the last week or so ?
Looking at the reports conditions are still good but as i havnt been to either place before i was hoping some folks could tell me a bit more about whats good and what/where to avoid !!
I will be staying at the Rams Head Inn at Red Mountain from the 19th March (next Friday) if anyone is nearby for a beer !

Hi

We've just got back from Red/White... White had about 40 cm last week (not sure about Red), the whole are is looking marginal... I wouldn't advise going, stay well away, tell everyone you know how crap it is and tell them to stay away. The snow sucks, the mountain sucks, the people suck... definitely give it a miss. I can't emphasise enough how FAR away you should be from Whitewater... really. Dont go.

p.s. don't buy kit before you get there... they've got mega sales on too.

Heading from Whistler to Red on Friday.
May well give Whitewater a miss.
Will see what things are like in Red first.
Conditions in Whistler are good enough to keep me happy for a day or two.
Things are cheap. Got new board 60% cheaper than in UK.
Jill got a new Red helmet at a good price too. So im quite happy !!

Boardgirl!!!! What are you like... I'm trying to keep the crowds away!!!!!

We went to Red Mtn for one day and ditched it in favour of Whitewater... White has had the most snow in the region for the last week and it's a fantastic mountain - especially if you've got avi gear and are prepared to hike.

We've got some fantastic video footage from Whitewater which is still being edited, but have a look at this digital camera clip... we're hiking powderkeg ridge for a drop down a short chute into some freshies

Hiking Powderkeg ridge plus scenery

Of all the places we went, I'd have to say Whitewater and Fernie were my favourites.

(Although if Kicking Horse had some snow, it would've been ace too)

Sack Red & get yourself to Whitewater!!!!! Came back from White 2 weeks ago & the conditions were amazing! Had a 30cm dump on my last day! Fantastic mountain to ride especially if you like to go touring! Experienced the best day riding of my life in the backcountry! Spring conditions now though so you may not get any fresh. In saying that a cold front is moving in again with some fresh snow forecast. If you get a chance do a shortside or backside. Not much hiking required to do a shortside & you don't need any avelanche gear.

Even though we spent all day on groomed runs (perfectly grooomed) we really took to this place and will certainly be back...probably earlier in season next time.

Sunday at Red Mountain....well i got really red.
A better tan than i willget at home this summer. It was so hot.
Had got up early and caught first lifts and carved the groomers till
11am,had a bite of lunch then headed for the trees and the gladed runs.
It was great with lovely corn snow and a deserted mountain.
Loved this place and will be back next winter,

Hi CQ,

No probs, hope you and the boys enjoyed your stay in Nelson & are still having a blast in Fernie!!! Hope that won't be your last visit to White, counting the days untill my next trip out there. Only 11 months to go but only 4 weeks to Chamonix !

See you next year at Canada's best kept secret Sshh!
