Profile Photo's.............help

every time i try and put up a profile pic, they come out all blurry and distorted
i have tried making them very small? but nothing seems to work?

and if this continues i will be depriving the world of my super sexy hotness??

any tips please?? (check my latest effort to see what i mean

Erm, looks ok to me.

Your resolution may be a little low - hence the jagged edges on your outline when you click the image and it loads in JavaScript Lightbox.

What res is the image?

but now i have made the "res" bigger it looks worse????
i look like i have been punched in the face for 20 minutes??

You can't increase the res of a smaller image because it'll just distort it.

If you start with an original image of say 300dpi, you can decrease the size and res but it doesn't work the other way around. The image will just become more pixelated, thats why it looks "blocky".

hey i uploaded it AFTER it had been touched up..
the photo was taken to see how prawnywhite's first attempt at a hand knitted beanie (there's a lot of it about you know) looked......hence the casual lean against the door, and the cool catalogue pose , however i think there is too much me and not enough beanie on show
