I could probably find this elsewhere, but figured I'd roll it thru GB... I've now used both versions of Prem, and to be honest, haven't found much in the way of differences... other than I had a bit more ability to move the video around the frame in the full version a little more.
Are there any more obvious differences anyone else has found? Elements is awesome for the home editor I'd say |

You'll probably find more people with experience elsewhere.
I have both and I have a different view.
Elements 7 (I didn't bother with the upgrade) is ok as far as it goes, but CS4 Premier Pro is in a completely different league. I think you get what you pay for. For sure the cheaper versions of Adobe stuff are better value, but I think their market positioning is wise. |

In fairness, I only really need to slice footage, alter the speed of the video back/forth and have multiple audio/video tracks... they both do this so I think I'll stay on the side of the law with a legit copy of elements rather than. One thing that bugs me, is I can't set start and end points on clips before I drag them into the time-line. Ah well, I can get by for now  |

It depends what you want to do and how involved you want to get with your editing. Premiere includes more software and integration options than Elements such as After Effects but is aimed at professionals. If your looking at relatively simple comsumer type edits i dont see why you'd fork out the cash for Premiere Pro over Elements.
The biggest difference i've found was with the DVD menu authoring as Encore comes with Premiere but not with Elements. Encore provideed much more flexibility and functionality than the built in menu authoring of Elements.
As for start and end points cant you double click the clip, it should open in a new preview window where you can drag the start and end points before they're on the timeline. That's a guess coz im at work at the moment and cant check.

Nah - that workflow used to work for me on Premiere 1.5 but not on this however...  |

So I've just about completed my latest feature length... I finally cracked the elements thing - you have to first insert the full clip to the track, then double click it to fine trim it (start/end points).
Overall, fairly impressed with it... a little funky in places. I might be organising with Mr Starnes to have the video featured on GB in the coming week or two... it ain't no AfterLame, but with a $0 budget, it's not too bad  |
