Revision #2 (Last edited: 19/08/2009 @ 09:17) |
Hiyah, I've been looking at some new gear for my next boarding hols and am quite liking the North Face Shugga one piece (in black or khaki). Actually the one in post #9 is more like I was thinking. The main reason being that the gear I have (pants and jacket) always seems to let in some snow (mostly as I'm often falling over!!). No matter what of pants I try they gape a bit on my back, the only way to stop this is to buy smaller size but then they are like spray on everywhere else!
I find myself annoyingly having to adjust myself every time I stop usually causing a sneaky bit of snow getting in (not nice!) I have Burton pants at the moment but the Burton jackets seem to drown me so not able to use the internal zip function. I havent been to try any one-piece's on yet and some look like boiler suits (no thanks!) problem too is that I'm only 5' 2" so probably need a petite range, size 10/12 due to lady curves and impact shorts! Has anyone got a one piece they would recommend etc. They seem to be getting a bit trendier than the old fashioned neon ski suit! Or are they????? I would normally go for function over fashion, unless I'm going to be ridiculed by the boarding society!! Saz : ) |

An interesting one. Function wise - in many ways they are more practical. Fashion wise - they were the object of mockery for the last couple of decades - but how the tables have turned as they do seem to now be getting made for the snowboard market.

it's a NO NO NO !
I'd rather get wet, cold and get pig flu before wearing a one piece (even if I was a laydee). .jpg> |

I've been all over the world, Ibiza, Magaluf, Blackpool etc and Tamworth was by far the best for snowsports!! It's intense man!!! You're totally gripped when you're at the top and looking down...

One pieces have been back in fashion for the last 2 or 3 years. Ever since Roxy released theirs in 06/07 and Analog released the K-14 in 07/08 they've become more stylish and acceptable. They're warmer and as you said you don't have to worry about snow getting everywhere.
I say go for it as long as it's a modern one and not one of the 80's fluro jobbies. |

I wouldn't worry about NFs waterproof or breathability ratings... I imagine they are superior to 90% of the brands out there... but you pay for it.
As far as onepieces go... they are coming back in... quite a few of the park kids in Breck and Vail were rocking them last year and I imagine looking at Burton and Libs clothing range it's only get to be more... although Libs stuff is 2 piece but designed to look one piece... |

Yeah was thinking something like this, just being small I didnt want something that drowned me, hence not the boiler suit look!:

My missus is about the same height as you and had similar problems, a lot of the brands seem to have really low slung trousers with short jackets so don't protect the back too much. She's found that Zimstern, Bonfire and Moah have higher waisted pants and slightly longer jackets, you could also see if you could get some salopettes? There are solutions that don't involve the one-piece although, why anyone wouldn't want a onezee like this i don't know:

Haha that is wicked!! I think the onezee shows off the feminine figure much more nicely than bulky jacket and pants. My mate converted my attitude towards them after pointing out that fact |

Buddy of mine rocking a DC one-zie at a comp in Austria. He really rated them - except after spicy food when he said it was like living in the inside of a packet of dry roasted peanuts! |

Whaaat the F**K is that ?, ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ho,ho,ho,ho,he,he,he,he....oh me ribs can't take any more..please stop...................... !
Seriously though I agree with Chris that the all in one definitely flatters the female form but then there are some nice bits of kit out there in Snowboard apparell that also do the same job.
For just blasting down the pistes, Salopettes would do the job, but for jumps and freestyle I think you might find them a tad tight.
My mates missus wears Bonfires with the jacket attachment system and doesn't get snow in at all. |
