#1  Northwest board store to buy my first boots???  Posted 14/03/2010 @ 22:59
Hi
Can anyone advise me of where to go in the northwest of England (I live near Blackpool so anywhere in a radius as far as Manchester) to try on and buy/fit my first set of boots, and at the same time set up my first board/bindings that I've just invested in? I've just bought an Atomic Hatchet and Ride SPI's.
Cheers
Mick

subvert (at the chill factore) are good, they let me faff about for hours choosing the best fit without pressuring me into buying the most expensive.

my friend got his from tsa in manchester and he is chuffed to bits with his boots.

you might not find the right boots for you this late in the season though- some shops will have sold out of certain boots/not have your size anymore so you may have limited choice to find the perfect fit.

I want to try them on and get them fitted so Ebay's out. I'm new to boarding so I'm after getting the heads up on a shop that will give me good advice, good service but isn't overly expensive - the difference in price that different shops charge for the same kit is unreal.

Basically what everyone else said (apart from the ebay option) but watch yourself in Subvert at Chillfactor - I had my feet measured there by a guy who told me they were a 9.... a few weeks later I was in the snow and rock across the corridor, where they said I was an 8 (which is what I've always been...)
There are only 2 positions in snowboarding....one is looking coooool....the other is....DEAD!

Not every problem can be solved with duct tape, and it's exactly for those situations we have WD 40 and zip ties

I tried loads of pairs of boots in various stores and found 2 or 3 pairs that fitted very well. I took on board as much advice as possible from sales people. I settled on a pair of 32 Prospects. I got home and went onto ebay and bought them from a store that was down sale for £75 delivered. The identical pair were £125 on the high street.

I guess what I am saying is ebay has it's uses if you've done the homework

Id recommend subvert, they spent one and a half hours sorting out the best boots for me - good knowledge and didnt push one brand over another or a more expensive boot over a cheaper one - they just focussed on finding the right boot. I went in February to them and TSA in the cf - TSA had about 3 pairs to choose from in my size (9) which i thought was pretty poor. As for the online thing - its a moral dilemma doing the dirty on a shop - if you can live with yourself wasting their time and then buying online fair play to you - I knew I could probably find them cheaper but was happy to pay an independent company for some good old fashioned customer service.
