Hey there, i was in the same boat as you afew weeks back!

Im currently on my 3rd lesson @ Xscape in Yorkshire. Basically the rental gear there is £6.50 to rent a Snowboarding Coat and Trousers.

Since they say its -5 on the slope, i rented a size up on my normal clothing size and wore Jeans, T-Shirt + Long sleeved T-shirt underneither. I was ROASTING at the end of the class to the point where i was very wet with sweat!

Personally ide reccomend;

Rent the Coat + Trousers. ( or your own if you have! )
Shorts / Cycling shorts + Thick Socks
Tee-Shirt + Base layer: Click meeeeee!
Water Proof gloves

I am plenty warm enough in the above and never cold!

Hope you enjoy it as much as i have! Have fun & Hope ive helped!

The jeans where a good fashion statement (and very practical) especialy if you want to become a member of the Dalikfoda crew

Well if you ever need a fat dog wearing furry boots and very little else and smells of brandy there's normally at least half a dozen hanging around the entrance at Cas

I think a face mask is a tad over kill , stop toying with the newbeeees

There were at least 5 people on the slope last night with them on. One looked like they were wearing a Burka.

Ski/. snowboard differences, it's just fashion, there's very little difference.

Buy as little as you can in advance - what you think is "cool" in the shop you may think is the wrong thing once you've been indoctrinated. Imagine your embarrassment if you find you bought gloves but mitts are the thing. Or the other way around. Even if you're a banker, well there's nothing worse that "all the gear and no idea", it's really much better to start 'umble.

If you're just doing a beginner lesson then I'd just wear what you already have, it's not the surface of the moon. You'll soon work out what you need/want.

Just to prove I did read the thread... actually decent boarding pants will be shell, unlined. You're supposed to use something else to put under them, because you may be riding in anything from +a few to minus 35 or so. So wear anything you like underneath - old track suit bottoms will do for a dome.
