Hey All

I hopefully off travelling for a while next year around South America, the states and Canada and will be looking at replacing my damaged panasonic compact with something a bit more serious. We'll be doing a lot of travelling, trains, buses, hiking, boarding, surfing etc so i am trying to avoid the weight and size of a DSLR and to be honest i'll only be dipping my toe in the manual controls anyway.

I've got a simple little pocketable compact which is good enough if we were heading out somewhere without a bag etc. But i was thinking of getting something a bit more capable to complement it.

My own research has rounded it down to:
Canon PowerShot SX20 IS
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35
Canon PowerShot S90

However i did like the look of the 4/3 camera's but wasnt sure they'd be worth the price?
Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1
Olympus PEN E-P1 /E-P2

Can anyone comme or suggest some models for me to look at?

Thanks again
Hutch

Check out the Lumix LX3... Awesome performance from a little package compared to similar models out there liker the Canon G10. 720HD movie mode, Leica lens, F2, and pretty decent performance to iso800/1600... and best of all 24mm equiv wide angle.
A little bit of random photography,
