Hey guys. I too used to love the ssx game series, but unfortunately, Peter Moore from EA gave a statement that ssx was too hardcore and pretty much said it will be discontinued as people prefer to play big head tennis. I don't think that at all, infact, I have created a petition to send to EA when it has enough signatures! I really want the SSX series back, and I'm guessing you probably do to, so please go to www.livepetitions.co.uk/ssx . I also have a bebo group set up called www.bebo.com/bringbackssx so if you happen to have a bebo account, please join.
Alone we can only achive so much.

ssx is anything but hardcore, its the most p*ss take of snowboarding ever. its also pretty crappy imo. |

Amped 2 is still the best snowboarding game out there. The new Shaun White game is okay, better tha Amped 3. |

SSX is quite cheesy but it can be a good laugh to play with friends

no i think you mean the opposite, a hardcore snowboard fan isnt going to want some mockery of snowboarding pulling spins like 1590s and breakdancing on their boards.
If youre a snowboard fan you go for something like amped or shaun whites or stoked,

Probably alone but I thought Transworld Snowboarding on the original Xbox was pretty good.
Somewhere in between Amped (great!) and SSX (ok), in that it was more of a racing game, but without the ridiculous tricks of SSX.
Think I picked it up for under a tenner, so the price was right. |

The characters are all like some thing from street fighter 2.
but it would be awesome to do a triple backflip, rhodeo, screwcork indiemellon to pastie smash while eating a white lion bar and watching dvd's in bansko!

Nope... I know exactly what I mean... and I'm not on about your opinion of a hardcore snowboard fan... which is probably only about 10 people on this site...
I'm on about the general publics opinion of a hardcore snowboard fan... like people who would only buy a snowboarding game... but regardless... that's there reason and I suppose they are sticking to it. |

I love snowboarding, and love playing SSX. It's a game; I separate the two.
Shaun Whites is, by all accounts, more than a little sh*t at what it does. Amped is now fairly old, certainly not up to current standards graphically, given the console its on. Stoked hasn't actually been released yet, so I'm not sure why you're suggesting it as an alternative. SSX is undoubtedly very good at what it does; you only need to check metacritic to see that. That's an average of 76%, even including the shocking GBA version. Not awful, by any stretch.
Lighten up! God forbid somebody's opinion doesn't align with your own.
Edit: and for what it's worth, I'm fairly sure Peter Moore was referring to SSX as hardcore more because of its niche appeal, rather than because its a simulation, or anything of the sort. You could infer that from one look at the game, let alone playing it for any length of time.
