OK I have some files on my PC from last year's trip.

Mpeg2 i want to edit them and put together something a little more watchable.

Problem is, Windows Movie Maker has a shitfit whenever I try to import the files so either...

what other free editting software is good?

Rumour has it that WMM will work better with AVI files so any roccomendations for file convertors that can be downloaded for free?

I'm feeling your pain!!

Over 4 months I tried using that piece of crap windows movie maker. It crashed everytime I loaded a file and when I dud eventually finish editing it, it would not publish (even leaving it whilst at work) the edit and therefore could not put it on DVD/Internet/email it etc etc!!

I therefore found a brilliant and simple editing software named "pinnacle"

the link is http://www.videospin.com/Redesign/

this is a side project for windows and is a basic version. It worked first time. I edited a 6 min video, published it on an email/iPhone version, and had it on YouTube in about 4 hours.
Here is the link for the vid I did http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F&gl=GB#/watch?v=KgPxsJnn2ZE&client=mv-google

if that link doesn't work just search 'snowboarding mayrhofen 2009' should be at the top if the list with a sun hiding behind a mountain

Ii could have done a bette. Job but I rushed it as o didn't expect it to work, was so happy when it did!! I have mp3 files on it, videos and pictures from 2 different mobiles and a video camera!!

Good luck mate, let me know how u get on!!
Defo worth a shot!!
