Looking out the window and this Bank Holiday weather looks just about ideal for Mountain Biking!

North York Moors, Pennines, Dales, Peaks, Wolds, Lakes.....anywhere as long as its not Norfolk...

If anyone is interested getting together reply on this thread.

Cheers
Ian

Went out on the bikes with a couple of mates yesterday and it was ideal...just a shame we're so unfit

Have a good one if you go out...I'll be mainly working all weekend

yep, the weather was amazing last weekend. Big GnarlyBoarders mission over to the Brecon Beacons - 22 of us!

If anyone's ridden The Gap trail over there before - how good's that downhill?!!! Madness.

Rode Cwm Carn on the way back too. Love that!

Plenty photos here

Riding this weekend - most likely down south - Dorking/Leith Hill in Surrey.

if you go South Wales way at all, can well recommend the trails at Afan Argoed... (sorry, can't remember the names of the trails!). Think there's a big new visitors centre type thing just been built and there's some pretty awesome single track... almost as good as here!... but not quite!

edit: just had a thought, anyone fancy a GoneBoarding GoneBiking trip out here to Morzine this summer? will do a cracking deal if people fancy it!

yeh, Afan's the one. Have ridden several of the Welsh centres now and the White’s Level Trail is the best so far. Coed-Y-Brenin - the Red Bull one yep that's up there too.

Need more ... need more...

Morzine, hmm yeh i'd love to and i'm sure a few of my lot would be keen - will have to ask around. thing is i'm sposed to be saving my money for NZ at the moment

Don't know if we'll make it round Grizedale this time, BUt from experience I know the forest well and its definately worth a shot.....

I'm planning on doing - Troutbeck Village - upto Kirkstone pass on road, - then down towards Patterdale again on road, before turning right up towards wasdale and then up High Street offroad - descending the 2300ft back into Troutbeck - if i've got it in my legs might then head back out of Troutbeck over towards Bowness on Windermere - round the northern end of Windermere - then up and over the fell towards Elterwater then finish off witha quick circuit round Loughrigg drop down into Grasmere then Ambleside then back along the road to Troutbeck.....

Not quite clocked it yet, but it will be weather and fitness dependant on whether we add on the second loop after the Descent from High Street as the climb up and over towards Elterwater is a killer.....

Sloth, great pictures from your weekend at the Beacons,

Couple of questions./.. What make of bike is that crazy banana frame concoction which appears in photos 27,28,29?? not seen the likes of that in any MTB mags...

Loving photos 34 & 35 very cleverly shot and finally,

Bikerchick in number 73!! Helllooooo! :p Where do you find em?

I've got me camera packed and will hopefully record the Lakes on digi for some of those that are interested.

Ah, lots of people ask about that bike - it's a custom-built and custom-designed titanium frame (that guy in 28 and 29 designed it). is a sort of beach-cruiser/old-skool retro/early days of mtb type machine.

and finally number 73, pretty lady, velly clean, she good for you mister. yeh, that's Bob, one of our lot This was her first weekend of proper riding and she loved it.

Lurvly.... very nice lady!!

Decision time, last few minutes at work before the weekend,

Got a couple of pubs in mind for drinking and camping back garden nearby - but as with all good things the hardest thing is deciding which ones you won't be stopping at and trying to justify it over the others.

Can anyone advise on the following?
"Golden Rule" - Legendary name, good ale, not sure on Campsite facilties tho!!

"Drunken Duck" again legendary name, but out in the sticks, own brewery and probably some camping!

"Wheatsheaf" tried and tested pub in Lorton,(N.Lakes) nr Cockrmouth for a night out!

"Old Dungeon Gyhll" up Langdale - so much choice for ales, nearby campsite, but unfortunately full...

Help needed.....

Ended up in WAINWRIGHTS which is in Chapel Stile, just up from Elterwater and on the road to Langdale - quality nights kip and then legendary ride - despite it piddling down all day - Looks like it'll be Boltby Forest in North Yorkshire for the next ride - will keep you posted if anyone fancies it....

Sloth, noted that your planning a ride in the peak district for next weekend 9-10th July - Do you have a Grid Reference or Start point for your ride yet?? - would be interested in tagging along for the crack if thats OK wit the Gnarlybikers......
