The border cross from Avoriaz to Switzerland is definitely something we'd like to achieve whilst there.

Is this a full days trip (including Super Morzine to Avoriaz in the morning), or could we achieve it in a morning say, get the gondola in Champery back up to Avoriaz and enjoy the rest of the afternoon there?

And is there a specific route over we should take? (intermediates here so no steeps please!?)

As long as you avoid Chavantte it's very simple. You can get down to the Mossettes chair from Prolays blue. This will get you up to he border, then take the red down to Les Crosets. It's not the easiest of runs but can be a pain in the ass as it gets a lot of traffic and bashed about. Once in Les Crosets you have a few runs to play with. Don't bother getting the teleripherique down to Champery village. To get back you can take either the Grands Conches or Mossettes and L'Abricotine back towards Avoriaz/Lindarets. You also have the option of taking the Chavanette chair over the Swiss Wall, which drops you off high above Avoriaz with some great runs back into Avoriaz.

Chavanette on the Swiss side is also know as the Swiss Wall. It's not a black it's a route itiniere (extremely difficult).

Has anyone heard of a tree run called Starwars????

A friend of mine has done it a few years back, but now can't remember where it is.

Yep. From Lindarets head up Express Prolays, drop straight down the bank to the crosspiste, turn left at Parking Ardent sign above The Stash, keep left and follow it down to Lindarets.

So this run has its own wiki page and several videos on it, to be honest it looks mental and I shall avoid it!

Click my Love Snow link and there are some pics in the Flickr gallery from the French side. Check the angle the chairs come up from.

The whole PDS is a fine area and with good snow conditions it can be epic.
I loved Mont Chery at Les Gets as it was always quiet when we went over there.
Try and do the whole circuit as you feel that you are travelling miles....Ive done it but only in two parts.
Not been out that way for a few years but I really want to get back and will try to do so in the next couple of years.

Just noticed this is my 6000th post !
