Thanks to Starnzy for this sticky…

Just wanted to let everyone know about the 2 Freestyle Camps taking place at the More Mountain Chalets this winter in Central Morzine.

sNOwPARKING Jan 8th - 19th
OUR CAMP Jan 20th – 27th

We are limiting the numbers - to keep everything more personal, and are including a full area lift pass, demo board test from SUBVERT and T-shirts and goodies from loveboardwear

For the coaching and tuition, we have partnered up with the Our Camp girls and the Avoriaz Alpine Snowboard School

There are links below for more details so click away if you want any more info.

Also… it would be great to hear your thoughts on what has worked well in any camps you have been on before.

Cheers, and hope to see some of you out in Jan

Jon

Hi Jon,

Have heard great things about your chalet - my mate's girlfriend went on the Girls Camp with you guys last year and loved it...she ended up buying some kit as a result of the board test and found it really helpful...

Is snowparking a mixed camp or just for blokes and will it have the same sort of board test?

Cheers

Hi,

Just wanted to say that we've not booked onto the boarding camp but have booked to stay in this chalet for a week, just in case people thought the chalet only did camps - the chalet looks pretty amazing, i contacted them through this forum and they sorted me out!
Will review on here when we get back!

Fingers crossed for loads of snow

Tony,

Just spent the last week out in Morzine mountain biking and stayed with Sam and Jon at More Mountain! Even managed to make up to Zermatt and get on the stick for a bit of glacier bashing to get the early season legs going!

If their new place is anything like chalet robin (which they assure me it is) it is gonna be a well plush place to put your feet up after a hard days riding! Didn't manage to get in to bag the best room though! Was getting the gen on the camp too, sounds like its gonna be a wicked week.

Counting down the days, hours and minutes until the snow fun begins! Do you get to any of the uk fridges much? be good to get some banter going before we hit the real stuff.

Take it easy, Sped.

Hi More Mountain,

Just noticed your post and that you asked for any comments on what worked well on other camps and I have some comments for you.

I went on one of the Our Camp freestyle courses last year in Avoriaz, not one run by More Mountain I might add, but I found the girls from Our Camp to be great, they are dead friendly, helpful and a good laugh. They really get you to try new things even if you thought you would never be able to do it! But without being pushy or making you feel like an idiot. I would highly recommend the Our Camp girls anytime, so I am sure anyone booking on your course will have a great time.

As long as you keep the atmosphere light and try to get everyone to mix well and gel as a group you shouldn't have too many problems. Being with like minded people who all want to learn new things and love snowboarding will mean it will be easy for everyone to get on. I loved getting to know new people and met some fantastic people I just wouldn't have met if it hadn't been for the camp.

The chalet I stayed in had a few management problems which spoilt it a bit for us, and there were a few things I would say to avoid to make sure that your campers have a great time. The things which didn't work for me were having people who were staying in 2 different chalets ( although owned by the same company ) on the course. It meant you spent all day with them, get on well with them, but then they went back to their chalet and you didn't get to spend time with them in the evening even though you wanted to! The other thing which took away from the camp experience for me, was that on the camp I was on, we also had a group of girls who lived and worked in Morzine taking the same tuition with us, they would turn up for the lessons and be put into groups with us but they mainly kept to themselves and didn't socialise with us at all in the evenings. So i guess I'm saying, it would be best to make sure all those in one chalet are all on the same camp and get to mix and gel together and enjoy being part of the group.

I wish I had booked on one of your courses as your chalet looks fantastic, but we may make it back to Morzine next year so will look you up then.

If you want to PM re any of the above, please do.

Jo
I want snow!

Speedy, good to hear that you had a cracking time with Jon & Sam, im also very much looking forward to our week of fun and the accomodation sounds fantastic. I live about 20 minutes from Tam Fridge but money is a little tight at the moment so im not getting up there as much as i would like to. How about you, do you get the chance to use indoor slopes?

Hi Jo

Thanks for your comments - we will take all of them on board, especially with regard to running a camp from 2 chalets on the same week. Its a good point and one which we have toyed with in the past...

Last years Our Camp for us went really well, I think mainly down to all the social activities we organised..everyone got on like a house on fire, although many a time was spent recoving the next day from a too few many sessions on singstar and toffee vodka!

I do know exactly where you are coming from regarding splitting the groups up, hence why we are running our two camps this year on seperate weeks...we are also keeping them as small and as personal as possible. Shame you cant come along ...maybe next year!

If you are in Morzine feel free to look us up and pop in for a coffee ... hope to see you at some point in the future!

All the best

Jon and Sam
