Hi,

I'm looking at going away mid-December time for a weeks snow action going to be driving down so only looking for a Chalet to sleep four poeople and lift passes.

Not been away in December before so was wondering where would be a good place to go...?

I have been looking at Les Deux Alpes which seems like a good option.

Any suggestions would be great!

Tom.

We are biased because we live and work in Meribel it is a great option. The slopes are quiet and the passes are cheaper from opening (4th Dec) until the 18th.

People worry about the height of the resort but even the old grizzled mountain men in resort struggle to remember a time when there wasn't enough snow to open the slopes and links to Courch and Val T.

We really enjoyed Deux Alpes last time we went but did find the options for getting back to resort (steep icy blacks or a busy switch back green) were a pain.

I was in Les Menuires Jan this year and it was awesome! My only concern of going again, right at the beginning of the season (Dec) is the snow condition...

I have also been looking at Alpe d'huez which opens at the same time as you but again will there be enough snow...hmmmmm

Most places will be fine Mid Dec - but I usually play it safe in the early season and look at the glacier resorts. Les Deaux Alps is therefore a good option and a good resort anyway. Main points to note are that the ski passes should be cheaper before about the 19 Dec (that's when the price goes up in Morzine anyway) and the slopes are quieter. Game on!

Sounds good I think it's now between Les Deaux Alpes and Val d'isere/Tignes which are a safer bet for good snow!

Can't speak to Tignes, but Les Deux Alpes is a fantastic resort.
