#1 looking for a fun board now... Posted 02/03/2010 @ 10:56 |

hey guys, wondered if any of you could help me find a board to piss about on now.
i'm an intermediate rider looking to improve buttering + rails primarily, but still want a board with enough pop for kickers. another problem is my friends are more all-mountain types, so i'll need a board that can get down anything i throw at it if i have to, so i don't want a complete noodle (which i gather some of these are).
so far im considering: -rome artifact or maybe graft -capita stairmaster -lib tech skate banana -k2 parkstar or jibpan
or do you guys have any other suggestions? i quite want something with rocker preferably as i want to focus on flatland tricks etc.
thanks a ton! |

The stairmaster in your normal size will cope fine with most of the mountain. I've not ridden one, but have you looked at the Capita Horroscope or late release Ultrafear which have flat kick? |

Having owned a stairmaster, I would avoid if your looking still to ride the whole mountain, although the board is immense in the park, pretty flexible with plenty of pop, I found that at speed the chatter was pretty much unbearable.
I used to have a Rome Anthem for speed and a stairmaster for the park as I personally found that neither were good enough at the other to only have one board. I've since sold both and bought a NeverSummer SL-r, take a look on their NS website, it might be just what your after? I find it awesome fun attempting to butter, hitting jumps and its also ridiculously stable at high speed on the piste and just seems to float in the powder. |

I have a Stairmaster, but a shorter one than my all mountain board. I didn't have any problems at speed in terms of chatter, but it did wash a bit on turns due to it's smaller length and flex.
I would say look at NS, I have the Revolver and it is an awesome board. They are however not cheap and I doubt they're easily available at this time of year. |

I've been all over the world, Ibiza, Magaluf, Blackpool etc and Tamworth was by far the best for snowsports!! It's intense man!!! You're totally gripped when you're at the top and looking down...

Are you teasing me to post my video again Chris?

In terms of hard pack, I didn't encounter too much hard pack in January, but there is a notorious section of windblown hard pack under the Crosets chair that it coped fine with (I usually avoid it). The vario tech seems to work really well. |

K2 parkstar wouldbar a good shout.
I got the 157 so it's stable at speed as well as being small enough in the park and buttering. Coz it's rockered it does feel shorter as well!
Iv been chill factor on the park, was excellent
been Scotland and ischgl Austria where I was in waist deep powder and it was amazing, sat up nicely, made it effortless to turn in the pow!! Slightly rockered so that helps u out in the pow and coz its rockered at the ends it is awesome for buttering
it's got a flat base between the bindings so it's good at speed, on hol they had a speed trap on a blue, I straight lined it on a flat base getting 75kph. Didn't see any other boarders get faster but did see a few catch an edge (the beauty of rocker)
I love it, defo get a demo, in fact just get it u will love it |

Mine was also shorter than my all mountain, a 152 as opposed to 156 Anthem, maybe I was expecting too much out of the stairmaster given the stiffness of the anthem?
Either way, as i've said im absolutely delighted with the NS and to answer Chrissy's question, it handles hardpack as well as it handles manicured pistes!
I managed to pick a NS up from BornExtreme about 3 or 4 weeks ago, would be worth giving them a try? |

Sorry Chris I can't find the weight ratios on their website. This is all they have - http://www.neversummer.com/snow/revolver.html. The Revolver is slightly softer than the SL-R. I chose it over the SL-R as I like a board slightly softer torsionally and also wanted something I could charge and also have a play on.
P.S. I ride 156 at 5ft10" and 12 stone.....most people would say I should ride 159. |

awesome responses guys i massively appreciate it.
i thought about the ns range but they're a little out of my budget (ideally £350 or less)
i'm leaning towards parkstar - anyone have an idea of how flexible it is? think its the best choice for what i need but just hope its suited to buttering about the place |

Like I mention further down the page, it's been awesome on everything!!! |
