Just a quick update, I am up at the X Games in Tignes right now. Anyone else at the games this week. Today it kicked off with slope and pipe. Some great moves and big wipe outs. The snowmobile demo was fun to watch waiting to see if they stacked it.

Must give it a go one day. Gota go the party goes on!!!

hello

i was wondering if you could help me with transport links in les arcs, from 1800 to 2000 in the evening, as we have friends staying in 1800 and we would like to be able to see them in the evening. Do you know how much a taxi is between the two at about 8pm and then back?

thanks

When i was out there i heard talk of cabs being about 90euro. So if that is true then you might have a problem but im not sure who you might need to talk to about that. 1800 to 2000 is a fair old trek and im not sure it would be in anyway possible on foot.

there is a bus between 1800 and 2000 but think the last one is around 10.30 0r 11.00. I missed said last bus, here is no way that you could walk. we had to get the bar owner to drive us for a price!

taxis can be ordered but they have to come up for bourg so you are paying for that bit too, could well be €90 ....

Just a quick update. The X Games in Tignes were great but back in Les Arcs there is blue sky, great snow (firm and dry) most of the day and loads of stuff is in condition. The warm temps where the sun shines in the afternoon make it a little sticky on and off piste until the sun goes down, then the low temps make it freeze again allowing it to stay in condition for tomorrow. Loads of racers around right now so am very busy. Hope to see some of you later in the week.

http://www.skipass-lesarcs.com/catalog/?lang=en

The site above should let you see prices for when you are staying. Sadly doesn't seem to allow online booking any more, but grabbing a pass at the funi station in Bourg or at any of the lift offices in the arc's is easy and quick.

I paid 317E for 8 days, full unlimited Paradiski area pass (includes La Plagne etc..)

7 days in just the Les Arcs area is 238E - 209E is only for 6 days.

Merci beaucoup,
I was wondering if its just best to buy from a ticket office out there. And so I will.
Can't wait...

I'm sure no-one cares for this or wants to know, but I'm thinking about getting a one-piece from
snow board asylum

What does everyone think, way too lame or very cool? My friend hates it, but I adore it!

Hehe

what?! I can't buy it now you've called it a 'adult baby grower', geez people in Le ARC won't be able to recognise me now, as I won't be purchasing it now. Thanks a lot markcrat! Hope your proud of yourself...

What a crazy past weeks or so it has been. First was up in Tignes for the X Games, amazing stuff and loads of great riding around the Val Claret area in some steep couloirs with great snow in between watching the games.

Then the Etoile d'Or Champs. Some excellent future prospects amongst the racers. When I get the link for results I will post it. Have any of you seen Telemark racing, it is the World champs in Montchavin right now, jumps and all, these guys can really rock. I wish my knees would allow me to still do this, but my skills are just not up to it.

Then met up with friends and have been to busy in various places to get back on here until tonight.

Will try and post pics of all the great off piste that was done. The various descents have been excellent. Firm snow in the couloirs, plenty of challenging routes with mixed spring conditions. Even the tour to MontAlbert today found us on one small face with chalk like snow well hidden from the warm sun. Perfect stuff for a warm spring day in March.

For all those coming out to Les Arcs, the water-slide is up and running, did it today for the first time this season 'on my skis' without getting wet, great to have a leg that can hold a ski flat and stable again, the Doc sure did a great job.

If you fancy meeting up for a beer or going riding, post me a PM, come round to George's Wine Bar in Arc 1950 most days from 5.30pm to 6.30pm 'ish or ask for me at the Altiport now the slide is open from around 4.30pm until 5.10pm when I must leave to get the link.

The snow conditions all over the Paradiski area are still great despite the warm conditions. Plenty of depth to the base in many places means even with the warm temps we have right now it should last 'as long as the rain' does not come. Will start posting again every day now that I am having a chance to chill out for a few days.

There are still great places to go off piste, but take care as the warm temps are now starting to make some places slide. If you do not know the safe routes take a guide.

The pistes had a very hard surface this morning after the night freeze but as the day went on the higher slopes softened up and made carving really fun whilst on the lower slopes if you like slush, it was also a good laugh pushing it around.

So for all those on there way out this weekend or in the coming days, do not be depressed you will have a great time.
