Hey Johnny, i'll be there with a mate for a week from January 14th, i'm always up for meeting a new shred buddy if you fancy grabbing that beer or heading up the hill together. I'll pm you closer to the time and hopefully we can sort something out.

Never been to Jackson buddy, cannot freaking wait. It's been an awesome start to the season snow wise too!

Did a season in Colorado three years back but by all accounts that's like Holland in comparison

Ha ha, me too man - It is damn cold but yeah, have noticed a drop off in the dumpage...

Like you say though, early days.. I'll be flying out 5 weeks tommorow

Corbets does indeed look a tad terrifying, but fun nonetheless should the kahunas feel suitably ample - Cheers for bringing it to my attention.

I could only imagine doing corbetts with lots and lots of fresh snow on it. And even then, I can imagine bottling it.
When it's scoured, it just looks like icy death to me. Saying that, a skier dropped it and rode it like it was no big deal though. Amazing.

I actually forgot how sheer it is - just looked at some old photos. And the turn you need to make instantly doesn't exactly help. On reflection, I think i wouldn't arse on a snowboard.

good luck to you on that one mate. It really isn't snowboard friendly.
I would reserve judgement until you stood at the top

Enjoy JH. It's a great mountain

Good to hear from somebody who has first hand experience of it - Like anything I suppose it will be down to how it looks when i'm there - Judging by your comments though it's a lot gnarlier than it looks in the photos and videos... I have no intention of breaking myself so we'll see.

Its that first drop (15 ft or something like? if memeory serves) to a steep instant turn in a fairly tight chute which is the problem. If you dont make the turn, there's the cliff wall to hit. Like I say, skis look a much better bet.

Some people sort of levered themselves down the initial drop but really, what's the point of that?

Enjoy

Corbetts is a lot more intimidating in the flesh. The initial drop in changes from week to week and season to season. After a huge dump you typically get a nice ledge. Sometimes you get steps or a slope leading down and other times you get a cliff drop.

I checked it out earlier this year and I'm not ashamed to say - I pooped my pants! I did however see a family of 5 going down it - including 2 girls around 12 years old! They put us all to shame.

If you ski/board often enough - anything is achievable.
