#1 is my board too small? Posted 10/03/2010 @ 19:05 |

Ok, quick question, I have a Salomon Special153.
I have been advised that it is too small for me, I'm 14st and 5ft 9?
Is this true, should I sell it and get a bigger one,a156 has been recommended too me but is 3cm going to make that much difference?
Cheers for the help. |

yeah you are a bit on the heavy side for a board of that length. |

In a word yes. But in reality it depends how you use it and what sort of riding you so. if its on piste then yeah its much too short., if its just for park then its ok.....ish. You could easily go 6cms longer for a piste board though. But yeah 3cms can make a massive difference anyway. |

As Nick says.
I am just over 14 stone, 6'1" and have a 162 which I learned to ride on. It also done me well on a recent holiday with mostly on piste riding.
Having spoken to a numbe rof shops, instructors and people in the know, it looks like for my riding and foot size a 159 / 160 Wide would be more suitable. |

I'd stick with the 153 and see if you can crank a 1080 out of it! |

A small board generally offers better manoeuvrability over a larger board. If you ride something longer or wider it should float better and feel more stable under your feet at speed. A 152 is a bit on the small side for you as an all mountain board, have you tried/rented anything larger and what kind terrain do you normally ride in?
I'm 5ft 6" 10.5 stone and I shred the whole mountain on a 154 rocker and damn does it feel good! |
