Mate we never got to meet up for that beer after all.

I did the same as Tewwy and passed at the same time as a Peak Leaders group who had spent the previous 4 weeks training and 3 or 4k on their course. Think it was a week or 2 after you Tewwy.

This year it costs £220, but it's still pretty good value for a 3 day course. I'd recommend it to anyone
I've been all over the world, Ibiza, Magaluf, Blackpool etc and Tamworth was by far the best for snowsports!! It's intense man!!! You're totally gripped when you're at the top and looking down...

Whats the demand for instructors these days - say the level 1 - in the chill factor - its a whole lotta money if theres no work out there!!!!

Chill and Cas both had around 5 times more people applied for instructor jobs than there where Jobs.

out of the 6 that did the basi 1 with me, i am the only one who got a teaching job.

Call me crazy but I hadn't intended to do the BASI 1 with any intention whatsoever of working as an instructor. More for the experience, the challenge and to improve my riding. Anyone else done the same?

If you do the course it will change your riding forever, however it may be a cheaper option to do a performance course. The same things will be taught on the practical side, the teaching won't be...

It is expensive to keep the qualification going though in terms of refreshers every 3 years for first aid and teaching, CRB, membership of BASI etc. however it does depend what you want to get out of it. I think you go into it with the attitude that you're not going to make a fortune, but will enjoy doing your hobby for work, meeting loads of people and getting involved in the lifestyle it's great.

I will probably end up doing the performance course first, just to iron out the kinks in my riding. I doubt I'll get any kind of sense of achievement from that though. At a 150 squid for the one-dayer at Chill Factore it isnt easy on the bank manager either. Do you get a good certificate from the BASI 1 course? That may satisfy my need to get something tangible out of this venture, then I can disregard the first aid course and 35 hours shadowing
