Hi, i'm a beginer/intermediate rider and board every month at the Chill Factor, i've been given a Rossignol district board (long story) now its only a 2008/9 so not an old crappy one, but its a 161 and looks a bit wide too, usually i use a 155 when i board, will this board be too big for me or too wide? or won't it matter? I'm 5'10 & 11 stone 4, with size 9 feet, the guy who i got it off was taller and heavier! I'm thinking of taking it along and giving it a go, but any advise would be welcome, |

Its definately going to make a difference to your riding, a longer board will mean a longer sidecut (the )( shape, your toe and heel edge) your turns will take longer and the radius of them will be larger. I notice a huge difference between my 157 and 155 but to be honest snowboarding is all about adapting to your equipment and terrain so just give it a go, it might take a bit of getting used to but im sure you'll be fine after a while. There are no right or wrong ways when it comes to snowboarding, just consequences.
Obviously if you did have your own choice make sure you go for the right size/weight board. |

As mentioned a longer board will have a longer effective edge so will take longer to turn. If it's a wide board the edge transition will also take longer. At your height and weight 155-157 would be ideal. My concern at your level is that you may develop bad habits trying to ride a board that is not suitable. It could make a great powder board though. |

Think your right, i may keep it for holidays, and use smaller boards for chill factor etc, as your boarding in a limited space/small run! |
