Hi,
I've recently bought a snowboard from a friend of mine which I used with a set of bindings I borrowed from another friend on trip to Bulgaria. When I arrived home I bought my own set of bindings, nidecker f650's, from a well known online auction site, they arrived but don't have any base plates with them, D'oh! My question to you guys is, can I purchase base plates from somewhere and are every manufacturers plates universally interchangable?
Hope you can help.

Hi,
Don't know anything about those binding and can't find anyhting on google. But you say they don't have baseplates - do you mean the adapter discs are missing or the entire base plate? If the entire base plate is missing then it's possible that they are old school (or should I say skool) bindings that don't have base plates. If the adapter discs are missing then sounds like you've been ripped off unless they were sold as such. The adapter discs are not universal, but they are variations on a theme and Nidecker probably make bindings for various other brands, so you may get lucky just by hunting around for some that fit. Otherwsie try contacting the Nidecker UK distributor. distributors for major brands usually have plenty of spares and will sometimes send you parts for free. |

The majority of binding base plates look like the ones below.

If you ask nicely at your local board shop they might have some spares that they'll give you. If not u should be able to buy some.
I would contact the seller and ask them what happened to the originals too. |

Thanks for the help guys.
Here's a couple of pics of the bindings in question.
Originally I posted the model number of these from memory as I didn't have the bindings at hand, they're actually Nidecker FR660 (I knew the old grey matter would let me down).
It's the adapter discs that are missing, they're a newish style binding (around 2/3 years old). The guy I bought them off said 'used and lost on other trips' in response to my q on their location and to be honest there was no mention or picture of the discs being with the bindings in the auction. I did ask the question if they were complete with discs but it was only hours before the end of the auction, not having a reply I took a gamble, but you live and learn!
If I can get hold of a set of discs I think I've got a bit of a bargain as they were less than £20 delivered and they're in extremely good condition, I think boarders with a little more nouse had steered clear due to the potential lack of discs!
I'll drop Nidecker a line, as I live miles away from my nearest board shop and post further developements here. |
