#1 How to booking board carriage with easyJet - for ONE WAY ONLY? Posted 21/03/2010 @ 19:03 |

Revision #1 (Last edited: 21/03/2010 @ 19:03) |
Trying to add snowboard carriage to my flight.
I only need snowboarding carriage on the outbound leg, as I'm dumping some gear out there with a mate.
BUT: there doesn't seem to be any option to do this on easyJet site... it assumes you need carriage for both legs, and adds it for both the outbound and return flight automatically.
Anyone know how to book it for just one leg?
Help! |

Problem is that the flight is alread booked. I just need to add the board carriage to one leg.
Looks like I will have to call them tomorrow.
Bad site design and usability by easyJet though. |

They are awful, the stress I have had in the last 24 hours trying to work out what weight my snowboard bag can be! I feel an argument at Gatwick coming on tomorrow morning! |

12kg is the weight for a boardbag - I flew with easyjet with two buddies - we were allowed 60kg between us over three bags mine was under, one pal over the other therabouts + with the boardbag as extra at 12kg which I was pretty near and I had two boards my boots and a couple of hoodies in there - they didnt bat at eyelid at em and just passed us through. Be careful though when we were there there was this other dude who hadn;t booked additional luggage and they charge £10 for every kg over - he was 24kg over - YES - £240 charge - too say he looked pale was an understatement!!!! |

But no-where on their website do they say that a boardbag must be 12kg. I haven't booked hold luggage. I have just paid for board carriage. The only information I can find suggests my boardbag can be 20kg as I have paid for 'hold luggage'. Am I wrong? I have honestly spent an hour trying to find the answer to my question! |

I just came back from an easyJey flight and can confirm the 12kg limit. Not that I got weighed at either side though. Just held up the strap so the woman could stick the flight tag on, and then got it taken to oversize luggage |

But where does it say that on their website? I have now read the terms and conditions several times and all it makes reference to is where you book one piece of hold luggage and a board bag. I am travelling light - I simply have my board bag with all my clothes in which weighs 20kg. |

yeah its a bit of a killer to try and work it out - I was looking for ages - it is in the sports equipment and musical instrument charges section - essentialy it quotes
'Payment of the additional fee increases your checked-in hold baggage allowance (including additional item) to a maximum weight of 32kgs.'
so this means your 20kg that you had for your checked in hold increases to 32kg = 12kg although like i said earlier they dont seem too fussed if it spread over the two.
I worked mine though on a 12kg limit on my boardbag so i didnt get stung at the airport!!!!
heres the page Baggage INFO |

I paid for board carriage on easyJet earlier this year. I had 20kg for my hold baggage and then 12kg for my board bag, even though I had loads of stuff in both bags. I think that hold baggage is automatically included in what you pay for your seat, and board bags are extra. Also, even if a board bag is your only bag, you have to pay for extra baggage because it is larger than the list of accepted bag sizes.
Flying from Bristol, they weigh all of your bags and made me move stuff from the board bag (my spare bindings, helmet) to my suitcase so that they were both within the weight limits. At Grenoble, they didn't care . Just put a tag on it and told me to take it to oversize baggage . |

Yep read that. It still doesn't say that a boardbag must be under 12kg though, by inference, in paying for another 20kg taking it up to 32kg then a boardbag is 12kg but it doesn't give the scenario of what happens if you don't pay for additional hold luggage. There must be cases where other people only take their boardbag?
I will argue then that my snowboard is my 'suitcase'. Their policy makes no sense. I am going armed with a print out of their boarding regulations to do battle. This could backfire spectacularly tomorrow though |

I tell you - the first person to invent a snowboard that can be folded in half and fitted into a normal suitcase is going to make his millions.
No more paying £37.50 (or more) to carry a snowboard on a plane... |

I took my board bag only and it weighed in at 24kg. I had booked additional luggage as I knew I'd be over the weight limit but they didn't question it at all at Geneva airport and they are usually really anal about the limits. I guess that's what happens when the check-in staff are on commission though! |

Called easyJet about this (0871 244 2366 @ 10p/min - call took 7 mins).
They confirmed that there was NO way to add ski carriage for one way only to my return booking.
They suggested I book the ski carriage at the airport - which they said would cost £26 one way.
BAD easyJet.
Sort it out.
Have raised this on their community site as a bug. |
