Hi. Great minds think alike. I'm looking at trying to find a cheap trip too so I can justify going twice. I have January sorted but am looking for a 2nd week in mid March. I've have been keeping a note of hostels that have cropped up on this site and others. So far I've got...

I don't have any experience of any of these but it's somewhere to start comparisons.

Hi,

I stayed here last Feb.

http://www.hihostels.com/dba/hostels-Grindelwald-055013.en.htm

It's pretty quiet in the evening but clean and not too pricey, about 15 mins walk up the hill from the centre of Grindelwald.

If you do go, it's worth paying a couple of quid extra for the 4 bed dorms (rather than 6 bed).

Cheers

I'm trying Italy. Passo Tonale. Managed to snag a cheap deal through Fast Track Ski.

http://www.fasttrackski.co.uk/italy/passo-tonale/flora-alpina-ski-deals-0000667.php

They had some BOGOF deals on Ski passes so two of us got the whole package for £500 each. That's flight, luggage, half board accomodation, transfers & Lift passes; Just beer money to find so that's probably another £500.

First week of the new year seems to be cheapest everywhere though you don't get a full week. 5 or 6 night depending on the resort, but that suits me, plus I expect the slopes to be quiet. Makes for an opportunity to burn off those Christmas excesses, or perhaps a way of continuing the New year celebrations.

I'm looking at something like 19th March for trip 2 but my mate can't make it so I'll have to impose on someone else which is why I was looking at hostels as I may end up travelling alone.

Class one in Bad Gastein! looks more like a 4 star hotel and 30 yards from the slopes
