i'm probably a bit behind the times here but only found out the other the day that there were resorts there. meant to be amazing and relatively untouched. has anyone been and or planning to try it out?

think there's only one resort with one lift, highest lift in the world but often closed because of weather?

You could get in touch with skinballs from this Gulmarg thread and any of the others who've been there
I've been all over the world, Ibiza, Magaluf, Blackpool etc and Tamworth was by far the best for snowsports!! It's intense man!!! You're totally gripped when you're at the top and looking down...

Actually - there are several small ski resorts in the Indian Himalayas - but the biggest and best is Gulmarg.

It has a few lifts - but the main one is the gondola (the rest are short drags).

We went there a couple of years ago and it was absolutlety brilliant - some of the best powder and very few people.

You can read about our trips and see some pics here:

We also created a little t-shirt design inspired by our trip:

cheers will check those out. it was mentioned to me that it was fairly untouched/discovered and to get there as soon as before more folk find out and start going themselves will hopefully look into trying to get there next winter

Gulmary obviously gets busier every year - as more people go - and more articles appear in the ski (and national) press - and more people go - and more articles appear in the...

It's still a long way off appearing in any Inghams brouchuers though! The fact that the FCO say Kashmir is a no-go zone means it ain't getting mainstream any time soon.

There are still enough bullets and beheadings to put all but the most adventurous off.

Saying that - the sooner the better...

I'm sure when Ed Leigh went he said there were something like 500 hotel rooms but over 20 thousand troops in the toen. Hardly a top family tourist destination
