Revision #1 (Last edited: 09/11/2010 @ 14:49)
Hi Guys,

I read a couple of years back about a snow dome due to be built on the old outdoor centre in High Wycombe:

http://www.snowdome.co.uk/whats-new/news/snowdome-high-wycombe/

It was due to be finished in 2009 but I have heard nothing since - does anyone know anything about it?

Soooo much closer to home than Hemel!
cheers

Yeah I remember reading about this a long time ago. I was quite interested in the outdoor slope that they said they'd maintain over the winter months too.

Thing is, that was before Hemel opened, so now that's running, is there really a chance for another fridge only a short distance away?

the plans got passed for this in july this year but i think snowdone which were involved couldn't secure funding so they are still trying to find investors. would be wicked to have another fridge down this way! one day the uk will have a dome to rival landgraff

Has anyone been to this place yet?

I've been looking online and it's supposed to be up and running now isn't it?

I hope it is as its the closest one to me.

Any reviews on it?
Many people go there often?

I'm plannin on going there for the 'learn in a day' course they run in the not too distant future

Thanks

Don't think it's even been built yet has it? Last I heard was that new planning had gone through but as of summer last year they'd not actualy started anything.

Ah that sucks.

They have a full website for it now, including prices for lessons and free rides.

I would have thought that it would of been built for them to have the website done?

I'll have to try look into it more as I'm going to be travelling from Portsmouth on the south coast, and that would be the closest one.

here is a link to the High Wycombe snowdome website.

It says about pre-booking to avoid disappointment!?

surely that means it's been built, if not then the website is very misleading.

if anyone lives close to it, or passes it at all could you possibly check please?

if it hasn't been built yet I will be making my first snowboard experience Hemel Hempstead

Only misleading if you totally ignore the dates mentioned on that page.

"construction of their second snow, ice and leisure venue, to be located at High Wycombe, will commence in September 2008" (note future tense used!)

So given you are reading a web page from 2007, it's probably entirely factual
Don't forget we had a major worldwide financial meltdown around September 2008. That might have been the reason it hasn't happened....

Regarding the lesson prices - remember SnowDome.co.uk is Tamworth SnowDome's homepage. Wycombe was the original expansion plan. The same company runs Hemel Snow Centre.

Besides, just like before Hemel opened, we had plenty of locals snapping shots of the outside as it went up, got it's wood cladding, and even when they first turned on the snowmakers. We'd have posted the same sort of thing on this thread as it was being built. Here are some of the old hemel ones:

* nope, you don't get pow like this at Hemel on a daily basis, sadly

So yes, I'd head to Hemel mate!

I clearly overlooked that :?

Hemel it is then just trying to find some mates that want to learn too as its a long way to go all on my own

Will hopefully get there in the next few months.

Do the prices change from April onwards due to the time of year?

Thanks

They do deals in the summer on lessons yeah. Best deal is if you luck out and get a private lesson for group rate, because nobody else wants lessons on that day (usually July/Aug).

I'm planning on doing a 'learn in a day' course.

With Hemel Hempstead being 2hours away it makes more sense doing it as quick as possible rather than having to drive the 100 miles 2,3 or 4 times.
