Hi everyone - first post!
Basically , in September I'm moving to Austria for a year, and I've decided to treat myself to a new board, boots, bindings - the works. Been using the same set-up for about 5 years (twice a year hols) so I feel that it's time.
In Austria, my nearest resort has a small Snowpark, so I'm hoping to spend a lot of time there. I need a park board, that can also hack it further up the mountain when the mood takes me.
I'm settled on boots and bindings (Burton Cartel EST), but at the moment I'm stuck between the 157 Burton Hate 10/11, and the 157 Burton Whammy Bar 10/11...
I like the look of the Hate, but with Zero Camber I don't know if it'll be what I'm looking for in the park, whereas the Whammy Bar sounds like a better option.
I'm about 5' 9, but quite heavy, so i'm looking at 157 rather than 155 or below.
If anyone has any input it'd be much appreciated, It's mainly the Zero Camber thing that has thrown me, so if anyone has anything positive or negative to say about that, pls chip in.
Also, if there are any new season boards that people think might be better, please let me know what you think!
CHEEEEEEERS

Firstly, Hello Im a bit of a n00b here, and new to the whole boarding thing, but im gonna put ma 2p worth in. I think you have answered your own question really. I would never buy kit that looks good as a priority. From what i understand about the design of boards, hittin a snowpark with a board with zero camber will more likely faceplant you if you dont land it right.
Think of it this way, if you buy a board that looks good, but isnt suited to your riding style, you wont enjoy riding it, and regret buying it.
If you have a board that looks a little out of taste, but u ride it like a pro, you will still ride it!
Choice is really upto you, but personally, i would go for the whammy bar.
Im sure some other peeps will be along later to give there opinion!
bye for now! |

the guy in the post above doesn't seem to know what zero camber is, tbh i think your best off ignoring the whole post, k2 have gone big on flatline this year for a reason
i don't know much about those burtons but transworld don't seem to rate them, i'd look at the pickle, parkstar or machete for starters

Agreed, Zero camber (i.e. K2's flatline range) is awesome stuff - very capable in the park and lesslikely to catch an edge. I would really reccommend looking at the Slayblade.
However, it sounds to me like you want to become a bit of a park rat and your not to bothered about obsescing over pow or smashing the groomers. Sure you'll do a bit, but if the park is your main goal then get a board that will allow you maximum progression and fun in that area. A 'rocker' will probably be best as they are less likely to catch edges due to raised tip and tail and will be more flexible and easier to press, play with. K2 have the WWW or Parkstar, Ride DH2, Burton Easy Livin, Dominant, Forum Scallywag, Youngblood, Capita Stairmaster, Nitro Subzero. Loads on the market. Of the traditional camber take a look at DC PBJ. Don't forget that Bataleon have their range of TBT as well.
Just given you more work, but hey, we all enjoy drooling at snowboards! |

Cheers for all the help guys. I'm moving out there in about 2 weeks so I'll crack on with checking out these boards.
Please confirm my suspicion: If I wait and buy a board in a resort, I'll probably end up paying way more than if I just order online? |

Deffinitely more expensive in resort - for everything! Internet all the way if you don't want to buy in Blighty. |
