Hey all, I would be really grateful if you lot out there could help me choose a board. It will be my first board,I usually ride a small board 148cm,I am 6.5 boot,5'6 and 9 stone.I have been riding 10 months but only in snow domes so I reckon about 40 hours in total.I have done one freestyle class but am looking to progress on my regular mountain riding and a bit of freestyle.Im looking to spend about £200 not including bidings so dont mind second hand or ex demo.Thank you in advance! |

I really like my Never Summer Infinity- it really goes anywhere. Is there some place you can demo boards before you buy? |

So you are after a progressive freestyle board then for the playful girl within??!!!!
I reckon you should have a good look at the following:
1. DC BFT (£240) 2. Salomon Lily (£280) - Jenny Jones shreds on this! 3. Capita Saturnia (£249) 4. Ride Rapture (£225)
Never Summer boards are good but expensive, all the above are as per 2009 prices but all new! You can get cheaper but beware that if you're buying second hand, you could end up with a'dead' board. By that I mean a board that has been thrashed and lost a lot of its natural pop and character. These boards tend to warp easily and don't hold their shape like they should so feel sluggish and are generally unpleasent to ride. A board ridden hard for a complete season probably won't survive another hard season - as a rough rule of thumb. |

Primark is amazing, you just have to know where to look. I spend all my money on good gear and snowboarding holidays that when it comes to clothing myself for a normal day I HAVE to shop at Primark. :D |

Pleased the board list helped! Don't go mental on the bindings - get a steady set of entry level bindings that are well padded - there is nothing worse than aching feet after an hour on the board because you went straight for a high spec/highly responsive binding!
I would suggest looking at: Burton Citizen/Stilletos, Forum Aura or Union Cadet lady. Look for a flexible binding with good padding. A more flexible binding will allow you to make errors in your development without punishing you by being ultra responsive and transfering everything you do to the board. The padding just means less foot ache on the hill and more comfort during your riding.
I took a lad from never stepping on a board, to doing 180's off an easy kicker line in a week, so go for it! Zero to Hero! |
