at the mo i ride a 152 feelgood for freeriding and powder, a 148 ride vista for piste and park, i'm looking into the ride canvas 147 that has rocker tech but i'm unsure as to its length.
has anyone found that with rocker tech you can still rip it with the big boys (so to speak!) with a smaller than usual board?
most grateful for any advice. i'm 5 yrs boarding now and can outride most men on the piste! |

Although rocker boards can have the edge hold of a longer board this can be countered by having a softer ride therefore if you go below your normal ride size you will sacrifice stability. |

Only a board with extended edge tech like the Vavavoom will have the edge hold of a longer board, but it's still very soft so the stability will stay at it's size. Don't undersize. |

Hi I got rid of my feelgood and now I'm riding a Never Summer Infinity. It's softer than the feelgood but holds and edge and carves really well even on icy steeper terrain. The Lotus is their stiffer women's board. (ns has something called vario sidecut that is similar to magna traction.) I just liked the feel of the Infinity. It's rocker/camber. Rocker between the bindings and camber at the ends. Easy to turn, good on powder. And damp. I use a 149. My husband got a NS Heritage and he went a little shorter than his other boards. |

Although rocker boards are fun and forgiving you will not get as much board performance as a traditional cambered board.
To rip it up with power maybe go for a normal camber board. |

the never summer vario power grip sidecut makes the board grip incredibly well. better than the old cambered boards. the reason being that previously you only had 2 contact points with the snow, where as now the differing sidecuts mean you have 5 contact points.
it is all about rocker and camber. you need both. with no camber the board will feel washy at speed. |

I've just got a 155 Never Summer Evo-R and it's outstanding. It's pretty much replaced my standard camber 161 K2 Zeppelin, holds edge just as well, floats pow just as well. Only downside is more chatter/rougher ride.
Vario sidecut keeps the board nice and performant on edge, rocker makes pressing nice and easy and the camber adds power/performance to turns.
Amazing board, can't comment on pure rocker boards though, as it's a freaky hybrid but it feels like it performs just like a 161. Keep an eye out for the active edge length, like with K2s WWW Rocker, it has a longer active edge, so you can get away riding a much shorter board than normal. |

The Evo is designed as a freestyle board. Some of Never Summer's other boards are stiffer and/or have more dampening for less chatter. |

Yeah good point, the SL-R and upwards would be better suited for all mountain for sure. Such sweet, sweet boards. |

I can second the sl-r, been riding one all week in morzine. It's been tearing up the powder, rising pistes at speed and is also pretty awesome in the park/buttering. I really can't speak highly enough of this board...absolutely brilliant |
