Just saying hello,

Me and the girlfriend went for a taster boarding lesson at CFe last weekend and I can honsetly say it's the most sport fun I've had in a long long time, I'm 20 and at uni but up until I was 18 I used to do a ton of mountainbiking, dirt jumping, downhill etc. Also the odd skateboarding and rollerblading in the past as well but haven't really been able to do any of it since uni, friends have stopped riding and I can't keep a bike in my flat, plus no car and no nearby trails make things difficult. So I'm really keen to have a proper go at snowboarding as I used to love mucking about on the bike and whatnot. Luckily I'm in Leeds so can get a train to ski village in shef and xscape in castleford quite quickly and cheaply! .

Anyway just booked some more lessons for next weekend at castleford, I'm hoping to get as many in as possible to reach the standard to do the slope alone. Anyway if the next lot of lessons are just as good I'd probably look at picking some kit of my own up, just wondering if anyone here knows how well sizing of salomon snow boots correlates to sizing of their skate boots when they used to do em because they used to fit me like a glove.

Also does anyone know if the snowdomes usually have any policies regarding photography, I'm a keen photog and used to get some bike stuff published and would love to have a pop at snow sport photography,
Cheers.

Welcome to GB! And to snowboarding! You're gonna love it.

I don't have any inside knowledge on Salamon sizing, but from my experience sizing is pretty unreliable across countries, brands, and styles. You just have to try them on. Which is wise in any case because variations in foot, ankle, and calf shape mean that not all boots will be comfortable for you. Assuming you're buying a decent brand (which Salamon is) it'll have all the requisite support, so you just need to find a pair that are comfortable and have the stiffness you want . Comfort becomes important about 15 minutes after you hit the mountain. If they're uncomfortable you'll be in snowboaring hell 15 minutes after that...

Welcome to the jungle matey!

As for the photography, I'm not sure... but at the dryslope I go to I have taken my camera and snapped people I don't know a fair bit, never had anyone object, and they get posted onto the chatham freestyle night facebook page, so people can see them.

If anything people like it, and i've had a few people stop and ask me to take a photo of them in certain ways.

I'd say majority of people like getting photos of them doing something they love!

Let me know how you get on, be cool to see some of your stuff

Hey, welcome

Nice choice with snowboarding btw! And, given your background in dirt jumping and a bit of skating, I'd say you'll take to it well.

I think the indoor snowdomes are a little tighter with their policy that the outdoor dryslopes. Like someone else said, I think you normally need to ask permission.

I've taken a camera in a few times in the past... A video camera, that was ages ago (Castleford), and if I remember correctly I think I just filled in a little sheet of paper that stated I was only video'ing myself and friends.

I took a proper camera in once, to do some review, and again I just had to let them know...
