Hi.

Ok waxed my board for the first time

And I felt quite pleased

But Yes there’s a but!!! (all ways is )

I cleaned board and made sure was dry

I then rubbed wax all over cold.

I then dripped wax all over board.

edited - ironed into the board

Left to dry and cool down.

I then scraped of till no more would scrape off????

I then brushed the board all over to finish I then waxed again a second time just didn't clean the board the second time!!

Really happy with the result but with all the scraping and brushing have I taken to much wax of???

Or have I done it right???

It just seams like what’s the point waxing just to scrape and brush it off????

Yes youve done it right, the wax seeps into the pours in the base, the plastic actually absorbs the wax and you scrape off the execss thats just stuck to the base doing nothing. I know it seems silly but thats how a base works. If you can still feel wax on the surface then there's too much and it will sl,ow you down.

not so sure mate.

did you iron the wax into the base. if you just rubbed some on, then dripped some on top then scrapped it off i reckon you won't have got the wax into the base properly.

this is what i do

clean base. (i use base cleaner - some prefer hot wax method but that's a whole other thread)

melt wax on iron to drip wax on.

run iron over wax with a little pressure, fully melting so that it cover the base like a liquid film, making sure not to overheat base.

allow to cool

scrape

structure with brush

polish with scotchbrite pad

there's loads of links/video links on the site - check them out.

What does that even mean? Are you saying after do all that yu waxed it again without scraping and structuring?

I think he meant step 1 - "I cleaned board and made sure was dry"

Hi thanks for the replys.

as you have prob realised I'm dyslexic so sorry about confusing post )

yes i did iron it in after driping wax on.

I basicly waxed and structuerd with a brush and then did it all again a second time but did not use the base cleener the second time as no point.

I did it twice as its a new board and got told its best to layer it.

and as first time wanted to make sure I didnt miss any where.

and could not see a problem with it so it sounds like I have done it right

and it makes sense about it soaking into the base i see how it works
