#1 Getting to and from Tignes - And places to stay Posted 15/07/2010 @ 12:57 |

Hi,
Does anyone know how much it costs to get the train from London to Bourg St?? I have tried to find out on the website, but it is obviously to far in advance... what was it last year anyone?? April time specifically if that helps or if its relevent.
Second thing, me and my girlfriend are on a budget, so has anyone got any pointers of decent, cheap digs?? I have stayed at Dragon Lodge and it was excellent. I have seen Chalet Chardons which seems to be the cheapest... Any other suggestions?? |

Which is pretty good for return journey, board bag carriage and it also bypasses the 3 hour transfer from Geneva... Cool.
Any tips on where to stay? |

When exactly are you going?
As bare in mind, the last snow train runs towards the end of April. |

You can still get the train any time of year you just have to change in Paris |

Early April, so no problem there!
The train is the way to do this. I did Geneva to Tignes transfer and it was epic. Dont get me wrong when you have Tignes waiting for you, i would not care how long it took, the train sounds excellent. |

QUOTE (inactive_16115 - 15/07/2010 @ 17:59) You can still get the train any time of year you just have to change in Paris True, but you have to change at least once. Then when you get to Paris you have to lug everything across town to the Paris Eurostar station. Finally, the price adds up to more than a flight & transfer from Chambrey or Geneva, so it's not really worth it. |

I did it for 230 last april. Only takes 15 minutes across paris, less time than you normally lug your board getting it to and from the airport |

I've done the Eurostar to Moutiers and back, changed in Paris on the way over and direct overnight on the way back. Was £80pp on the way over (via Paris) and £120 on the way back. Buses every hour from Moutiers to the resort I was in, something like £15 each.
The change in Paris is easy, just get the RER from Gare du Nord to Gare De Lyon, no issues. I'd have taken one via Paris on the way back if I could (cause I'm cheap), but only the Eurostar direct ones run overnight.
Those prices were booked in November, travelling in Jan. |

Since your having to catch the train from London anyway have you considered driving? Only 8 - 10 hours from Calais, Eurotunnel can work out free if using clubcard points, 60/80 pounds tolls etc |

Driving not an option for me unfortunately... I have never done the Eurostar before either so I am looking forward to having a few beers and kicking back while the train does all the work. |
