  #1  Front Flip Technique  Posted 18/01/2010 @ 12:57
I spent a bit of time trying to nail my flips again, the backflip came pretty easily. But i cant seem to get enough rotation on my frontflip to land it consistently

i spent a bit of time browsing you tube but its not really helping.

Was wandering if anyone can give me some basic pointers so i can pick up where my technique is sucking!

Anyone got any videos of themselves doing a frontflip?

granted I've only had the balls to throw flips off onto airbags, but i think it really depends on the type of jump. If its more of a step-down then Its going to be a bit easier, I THINK.
Are you going for real front flips or under flips?

hey,

when you are referring to real front flip and underflip im not sure what you mean. I always thought an under flip is more along the lines of a back flip where your momentum is going one way but your body is going the other? i may stand corrected (=

Nice vid i see you preload from the tail then to the nose i was just poping of the nose hmm.

Thanks for the help.

The vid is okay but there's a big drop for him to complete the rotation.

Think more cartwheel than forward summersault. Should be off a bump/roller with a nollie. I'd keep my hands out (as if doing a cartwheel) to practise. Maybe tuck the legs in to speed up the rotation?

Nice backflip vid btw, except it seems to have disappeared?

i have re uploaded it again just need the mods to accept it.

Anyway back on topic i will give it ago with the cart wheel technique you have explained and see how it goes i cant see it being too hard to get dialled, just annoying trying to self teach a bad technique

almost all the dome and a few of the dry slopes have airbag nights, check with the slopes to see when the next one is.

Keep an eye on http://theairbag.net/ for when they're at the domes.

I find with frontflips that you have to commit yourself by tucking your head in and making your body as small as possible to speed your rotation up.

Search on YouTube for 'Tyler Chorlton', he is amazing at front flips, he's done a triple. I think in one of his videos he talks about how to do them, singles, not triples!!

+1 for the Tyler Chorlton ref - great rider. He pulls a nice front flip at 4.55 in this vid:
