#1 Feel like I have hit a learning wall...any tips? Posted 29/07/2010 @ 18:48 |

Hey guys,
Hope everyone is well and not counting the days to the new season too much!!
I want to know if anyone has any tips, inspiration or experience of when you seemingly hit a brick wall in your development. I feel like I have.
I am getting ready for basi 1 at the moment, so I am trying to get my riding ready / polished... and I just dont seem to be making turns as smoothly or as consistent as I would like. I am skidding the turns too much (Toe side carve is pretty good, heel is not), have started falling on my heel turns trying to get on my edges and I am getting knee pains seemingly as I try and adopt the lower, more flexible basi cowboy stance. I dont know what it is? Do I just need to keep on practicing and it will come?
I should mention that I am not tense about doing the basi, as I just wanted to do the course for the experience rather than the wanting to get a job... So I am not stressed as such. I am chilled about it all. No pressure to pass. I just dont feel like I am getting better despite practice and its starting to get me down a tad
Anyone? |

A good coach is always the best option I find. Chill Factore offer a Pre-Instructor training course which irons out your riding in preparation for the BASI 1. I think even the BASI course itself though includes a day improving your own riding? Someone may be able to confirm that.
Another option is to do an Isenseven marathon, get totally snow-psyched and then hit the slope. Hard. |

I am doing the pre instructor course at chil fac and it is helping, but it is the pointers they are giving me that I am kind of struggling with - I feel like I have about ten things going through my head as I approach each turn, if you see what I mean.
I have thought about this more since my original post and like anything, only tuition and practice are going to get me where I need to be.
Maybe I will have a "penny drop" moment and have it nailed.
Have never heard of isenseven, just checked some of the videos out and they are pretty good man |
