Hi guys, been lurking on here for some time and I have finally plucked up the courage to ask a question. I need to buy my first board and bindings. I have been snowboarding on and off for nearly 10 years. Always rentals. This year went boarding in France and it was awesome but the board was a real let down. I have had a look at other posts and people recommend NS SL-R which looks awesome. I have tried flows twice and thought they were cool but others on here dont seem to like them. I am about 78 Kg at 1.78m. I thought possibly a 158 would do nicely. What do you guys think?

Never Summer do make great boards, but I would say that having two of them. I have a Revolver-R 156 and a Legacy R 163. The Revolver being a wide version of the Evo and the Legacy a wide version of the SL-R.

What type of riding do you like to do and what size feet are you? I would say that 158 would be a perfect all mountain board for your weight, but the answers to the previous question will say which you should go for.

In terms of Flows, I rode them for a few years but went back to straps and am glad I did. The toe strap and ankle straps are in the main what we use for foot pedalling and to put the board on edge. One full strap is therefore going to work differently to independant straps.

Thanks man.

Size 9. I have a pair of Salomon savages. Cant remember their length. Do you think the board will be too thin?

I tend to do most stuff, not really into park tricks, a few kickers and such for sure, but mostly riding the mountain with a bit of powder now and again.

Basically it's a toss up between the Evo and the SL-R then. The Evo is slighter softer and more playful than the SL-R.

I use Union Force which again I think are excellent. Not cheap, but very good quality.

The Forces are green and look sweet on the board if I say so myself

My limit would probably be up until mid october before I go out to the States for the season.

The board cost £465 new and the bindings were £180 but then that's because I was caught short and bought in resort. I'll let you decide what you consider a fair price for them, I'm a reasonable man.

They're well used but in excellent condition, I had the board serviced regularly and will have it done again before I send it to you if you do choose to buy. Unless you say otherwise I'll send it with the protective wax on (just a thick coat I applied when I got back to the UK after my last trip) and a new edging

The board is in great condition, they're reknowned for being bombproof, the base has a few marks but I never touched a box or rail with it so it's in pretty good nick.

If you're near Cas or Chill PM me and I'll bring it down for you to try or PM me your e-mail and I'll sort you out with some pics.

Thanks man. Unfortunately nowhere near there. Otherwise would definitely take you up on the offer. I am not sure on the bindings size. My boots are size 9. Would that mean I need medium Forces?

Depends on your point of view... some advocate that you get the smallest binding possible to fit so that you're really strapped in. Personally I asked the guy in the shop for mediums and he gave me large but I'm a size 10 and have no complaints. I wear Rulers which have a pretty small footprint anyway so yeh Large's will do you nicely but size 9 is probably as small as you'd want to go.

Have a look at www.unionbindingcompany.com to see what they suggest. Just bear in mind that they give US sizes.

I'm a size 11 and use L/XL.
