i'm trying to teach myself this too. i'm about 10% there, and will be doing little but trying to sort this out in March on my trip away in the snow.
helps to be able to do tail & nose-presses.
from there, i'm trying to add slow spins in which pressing, if that makes sense. sometimes works, usually end up on my ass, so LOTS more practice needed. slowish speed, nose press & turn it 90 degrees on the nose & try & ride the balance point without catching an edge.
does feel good when it all comes together. |

One thing I got taught the other day:
Don't just lean over the tail/nose to flex the board, this is much harder to sustain and puts you in an off balance body position. To get a good stable flex, drive your hips to the nose/tail keeping them parallel to the board, boning the rear leg and getting nice and low.
Then you'll be in a "gangster" nose/tail press. From here just rotate your shoulders to kick the spin in and put a little edge on, keep your head and eyes up and you'll be buttering.
Try it from all directions (Nose/Tail, FS, BS & Switch) and a couple of them should feel more natural and just get them dialled in for confidence before experimenting with the others.
Have a go with that. Even a stiff board flexes enough when you drive the hips instead of leaning over. And it looks far more stylish |

makes total sense, by moving your hips over - I assume there is a stronger shift of weight as the lower part of your core moves and the top half follows |

I'm at the same stage, learning to butter.
Bought myself a little Capita Stairmaster 152 (considering I'm 6'2" it's a little board lol)
I've heard the bataleon evil twin is great for buttering because of it's tribase tech, but can't justify the spend! |

You can butter any board.. I ride a Custom X and its a garage door...super stiff..
I know im a big lad and that helps but basically all boards will have their flex point and if you're riding a board to your weight you'll just have to practice and find it... |

Hello all. In the comments on the video he says its a Unity Pride 155. The blurb says its a directional freeride board which doesnt sound like a noodle either to me. |

Chrissy, heres some advice. Instead of trying to butter, try doing a 180 but not quite lifting the tail or nose u our of the snow. That way you can progress into buttering. Also, if your at the bottom of the slope, and its flat and your coming to a halt, just try it there. Also try it on rope tows at the snowdome. You'l get it eventually |
