#1  Dilemma! Won a girls board for my mrs to learn on but its a bit advanced... what to do??!!  Posted 08/08/2010 @ 07:34
Morning peeps,

Well I won an Option Bella this weekend and thought that'll be great for my mrs, she's about to start her lessons.

Unfortunately I've checked the board out and it seems a bit advanced for her.... Its an amazing board, 7200 sintered base, light as a feather but its freeride specific, quite stiff (it says in reviews although I think its super flexy... but im a boy)

So what should I do? It'd spoil her experience if she were to learn to ride on a board that was too advanced for her but at the same time its an amazing board!! Should we keep it for the future? Can we put the binding forward so the stance isn't setback or would that mess up the sidecut angles?...

Questions questions!! HELP!!

Keep it in the quiver, something to progress to.

As suggested ask a local shop for a swap. Or rent gear until she can adequately try the board out then she can make the decision whether to keep it or not.

Hi guys, thanks for the ideas - I will do exactly that, if the local guys are willing to part ex for a full setup (a pretty good deal both ways I think) then great, if not, I guess the quiver will grow!!

Why not post on http://powderroom.net/forum (a women's boarding site) and see if you can get some feedback from people who have used the board? (I haven't)

Hey, thanks for the link... People seem to love the Bella! If only I were a girl...
It may turn out that we will keep the board for the quiver as it seems to be pretty hard to sell a 155 girls board... I'm sure my mrs will love it in time

KEEP IT!!!

Ok, let me qualify that...if you think your Mrs is going to stick with boarding, then keep it.

I have ridden mine for 5 years now having bought it straight after my beginners' board (Burton Feather), the difference it made to my riding was incredible. It really is a great board to have after learning and that is why I would thoroughly recommend keeping it if you think that the Mrs will continue past learner stage. Although it says it is advanced, I found it so easy to get on with from the start. I found it so stable in comparison to the boards I had been riding previously which kept washing out under neath me. I wouldn't say it is very stiff but then maybe that comes from 5 years of wear!

Is it the right size for her?

I am happy to look after it for you for a season until she wants it and/or buy it off you
