make use of the free buses between 1650 and 1850.

If your staying between the main gondola and the 3 vallees lift, goup the gondola because the 3 vallees is REALLY slow butgoing back to 1650, keep left to come out at the bottom of the 3 vallees lift, heading back to the main gondola which is a bit flat.

the Bubble Bar is the best bar there (it's on the main street).

Never stayed in 1850, but we really liked 1650. We went for a beer in 1850 and it was significantly more expensive and really struggled to get served, which was weird, everyone in 1850 seemed really unfriendly!

if your staying in 1650 try to spend a day playing in the pow under the signal lift and get off piste to the side of Chapelets. Its brilliant over there, 1650 is also really quiet on piste, loads of space to play.

I am staying a lot lower in Bozel (870) we have a free bus up to Praz and 1850 and because 870 is effectively out of resort the beer is almost affordable.

1650 is generally pretty cheap or cheaper than the rest of courchevel anyway! There is a panini/snack bar at the bottom of the main piste which is pretty cheap as long as you don't mind eating outside (nice spot if it's sunny though). The pizza restaurant just next to it isn't to pricey either.
It's often quite quiet is 1650 as it's slightly away from the main resort and there is only really a couple of routes from 1850 and I think only one route back unless you use the free bus. Because of that not many people bother going over. I've always liked it because of that, also it's got loads of nice wide blue runs with off piste between the runs.
The only real downside is that if the weather closes in it will white out pretty quick as there is very little tree cover and it's quite exposed.

Courchevel 1650 has some great wide blue runs for beginner/novice/going as fast as you can. It also has some wild off piste (Equinox is in 1650 - named after the program about avalanches !) No need to take any drag lifts, infact no need to take any drag lifts in the whole of Courchevel or the three valleys.
No Flat spots to avoid really, although coming down from Belle Air towards 1650 you need to keep your speed up a bit at one section (but you can really gather some pace just before it !) The Indians run can be a little slow and is probably the one to avoid on a slow snow day.
Not sure who had the cheapest beer in 1650 last season. 4euros a pint is about normal. We were getting 3.50 a pint here in La Tania at happy hour. Watch out in 1850 though .. some of the bars on the piste charge up to 14euros a pint ! Notably, Chalet des Pierres and Cap Horn are to avoid, unless you have money to burn.
The bakery's are always a seasonaire favourite for lunch as they are always pretty cheap for panninis, pizza and sandwiches. The bars in 1650 are normally pretty good for lunch too - Panninis around 5euros. Try The Boulotte, Bubble bar or Rocky's bar for good prices and english speaking staff.
Apparently the Funky Fox is worth a look at night too.

Probably not a whole lot I can add but Courchevel is a great resort have done 4 trips there stayed in 1650 once (1550 the other times). There's a bit of everything, massive area, decent off piste, trees - you should have a great time. If you wnat lunch and your at the 1850 side drop down to 1550 (it's only a quick run and there's a gondola back up) - 'The Bar' does cheap beer and pies.
