Hey,

I've not had any coaching with them before, but I did take a look at their site. Interesting, small company. Would you be getting 1 to 1 private tuition?

I'm looking for me and 2 mates, have done a little freestyle before, but nothing massively fancy, just want to learn a few new tricks.
We've gone with ESF in the past but they weren't great, didnt ask us what we wanted or anything, just did what the instructor fancied and came away no better off, just a coupla hundred Euros poorer.

Yeah, ESF can be hit and miss for sure

Bit of a plug for my own writing, sorry, but you could consider some freestyle coaching material to help?

I got the Snowboard Addiction Freestyle Program a while back, and really rate it. If there are a few of you - you'll be able to bounce off each other... I'd argue you'd be better off with some decent video instruction and your own group to learn in, than you would be with ESF

I wrote a couple of reviews about it here.

Hope that helps...

Cool thanks for the feed....Hmmm not big on 'video coaching', have seen quite a few vids- Jibbing with Jeremy & Jumping with Jussi amoungst em, they were ok to give me an idea on how to start trying stuff but not much use when things arent working how I want them too haha!!!

Def not gonna waste time with ESF again, but wouldnt mind some real person coaching, esp if there is just the few of us, like you say we can bounce of each other too.

The Snowboard Addiction stuff is completely different to the Pro Trick Tip vids. There are some free vids on itunes/youtube etc that you could watch to see what you think.

Snowboard Addiction stuff is really well done - broken down so simply I found myself strapping into my board in the living room and going through the motions they were talking about there and then! How sad!

Check out the Mavericks videos in the Instructional section of the videos here in goneboarding. They are also very good. Lots of people have reccomended 'Jumping with Jussi' to me including a pro rider who swears by it!

Yeah, I've seen both the Jibbing with Jeremy and the Jumping with Jussi, they're not that good.

Like fatbob said, the Snowboard Addiction stuff is quite different all together. They do have a few free videos, you should check them out, they're good and they give you an idea of what all the coaching is like.

I've been freestyle-oriented for quite a while now. One of the things I couldn't do, but really wanted to, was to nose-grab. I know this will sound cheesy, but after trying some of the stuff they suggested, I got some nose grabs at Cas

Then I broke my leg and fractured my skull, so I can't shred for about 12 months, so I can't solidify it, but it really did help

Cheers, Gavin

Hey,
Me and my mate got some coaching with Snow Rider last year. I'd watched loadssss of trick tips vids in the past (my mate not so much) but i wasnt getting the progress I wanted and felt fairly stagnent with my snowboarding, so thought we'd try them for a few hours and it was awesome!
First up the coach we had was super relaxed and really friendly. He was genuinely interested in what we had done before and what we wanted to learn (which was getting better at spinning) and structured the whole lesson on that.
We did a few little things to smooth out our styles just riding around first then worked it into some tricks. The actual on snow explanation and demo's were sooo much better then every vid ive seen, really clear, made sense and being able to ask questions helped loads. But the feedback we got was what definately made the biggest difference! having them analyse your riding/ trick and tell you exactly what to do differently and when, really helped me learn some new tricks, actually stick them, ride away clean and actually feel like I can claim theyre 'in the bag'.
After the first 2 hour session it felt like id had more progression and improvement with my riding than in years of my own riding with my friends and watching trick-tip vids, reading mag how-too's etc.
Booked them for 2 more, 3 hour lessons later that week and in the 3 days I went from doing some (really iffy) front side 180's to feeling confident landing a few different 360's and a fairly consistent frontside 540 amoungst other things.
Heading back to La Plagne again this year and will book a few more days with them again, so Id definately reccomend them- money soooo well spent, the fun you'll have and the progress you'll feel is un-real!

Hope this helps,
FM

Nice work, definitely a thumbs up for Snow Rider!

Do you remember what your coach was called?

Cheers, Gavin

Hey,
Yeah thats the website, also on Facebook as well I think.
Definately worth giving them a go, Id recommend booking as early as you can though as when we booked the last of our 3 sessions they were booked for the morning we wanted (granted we did try and book it the evening before), but the afternoon worked out just fine.
Our coach was called Rob, pretty laid back English guy, deffinately knew his stuff. He was just who rocked up on day 1, but we asked specifically to have him for the second 2 sessions and it wasnt a problem.

I really liked La Plagne, interesting area- good park, but great for touring/back country too, if your into that kind of thing as well... and the link up with Les Acrs is great. Maybe try posting that question on the resorts/mountain forum for a better response?

Just booked 4, 2 hour sessions with Snow Rider for mid-Jan- cant waittt- looks like its starting to snow a bit in the Alps already, so hopefully it'll be a snowy season.
I hear La Plagne might have a foam pit in the park this year too(can anyone confirm this?), which'll be less scary for learning new tricks I guess!
Bring on the holidays!

Yeah you'll have a great time! -Me and my buddy went out to la Plagne n got some coaching with SR at Easter. Fun guys and we learnt more tricks than we ever thought possible in a week, if you think you've been riding to long to get better, think again! Definately recommend La Plagne too, its a massive area. Didnt manage to link up to Les Arcs, but apparently thats meant to be preety nuts too.
