changing your username?

is it possible to change your username wiht effecting your current account??
i was just wondering, as i am starting to think that having a funky username is something for people a little younger than myself?? or maybe im just feeling sorry for myself, and letting age be a problem? haha

Hi-jacking the thread a little bit here but under the 'my account' bit where it says how many new posts and that..it keeps saying i have 1 new post when there are no new posts and its annoying me (bored at work and keep staring at it) can someone fix that for me? cheers
