It has not, is your number still the same or have you got a French one for the season? PM me if you have.
Looks like I'll be bringing my old board if things don't improve |

I've not got round to getting a french one yet so still on the number you've got. Trying to avoid calls at all costs though as roaming pay as you go rates are insane, so text only if possible.
I think our Swiss "god damn why does it have to keep snowing" groaning is coming back to haunt us |

I'll bring my freezer - it's looking like there's more ice in it than in the entire PDS!
I reckon those DVD's will come in useful! |

Revision #1 (Last edited: 10/01/2007 @ 20:22) |
I think people get far too paranoid about the snow conditions. Yes its not great but there is snow and what there is in the PDS should keep us entertained for a week, even if it does mean having a couple of "away days" elsewhere. In my experience the best snow conditions in Europe are getting later each year. I have lost count of the number of times I have had top conditions in late April and early May. People who plan and book trips in Dec and Jan are taking a risk and thats just the way it is. At least these days there is the possibility of artificial snow cover, something that was rare 20 years ago. In the mid 80s it was quite common in the Alps to have no snow on the lower runs for a big part of the season(early and late) in many resorts. Im heading out to Champery next week and although conditions could be a lot better it certainly is not getting me down. We will make the most of what there is and make changes to where we go and what we do to get the most out of the week. The most important thing for me is that its a week away in the mountains with good company. |

He is the snow god.
I reckon as soon as we land it will start snowing at a rate of 3ft per hour for 4 hours, perfectly bonded with minimal risk of avalanches. the train tracks will however be clear, and the lifts will all be open, but only to us Champerians. |

Mike, dont tell the World but that IS what is going to happen. Basically all Im saying is that if you book a week anywhere early season in advance then you have to go there and make the most of what snow there is. Perhaps Ive had so many poor days on the slopes in Scotland over the years that what we get next week will still seem pretty good. |

I think you're dead right Stuart....when I used to lvie in Scotland, I'd set asisde a day to go walking or climbing and no matter what the weather was...I'd make sure I went an did it. Never regretted it, and the weather is so damned changable that you were often in for a jewel of a day despite rotten forecast. |

Had a good first day on the hill today. Very warm all day. Went up on the Champery Telepherique . Les Crosets is not in a good state. Had some nice runs on the Swiss side then headed over to Avoriaz. I was surprised it was not busier with most of Morzine closed. Looking over towards Mont Chery and it did not look to have much cover either. Jonny, will you be around on thr hill tommorow or Wed ? Petes posting some photos. |
