know you said you are not keen on the pocket handhelds, but have you considered the flip ultra? They have them on Amazon at discount prices at the mo. Ask yourself how often you are actually going to use it, and what you are actually going to use it for... Is it worth buying an all singing all dancing piece of kit if you are not going to use all the features on it?
We want a little camcorder for our hols, and I am strongly considering a flip. We won't use it any other time other than holidays, the flip is easily portable and you can get an 8gb HD model for £120. Has got me thinking anyway...

Just for holiday use id dsefinately go for one of those but Andys after one for his sons college course. For that you do really need a little more versatility

has anyone had any experience of the Canon MD205 Mini Dv cam??..... reviews are mixed (as wiht all in this price range)
but was once told that Canon Mini DV's are normally very good???
