I don't think there's much snow there now, let alone in April

Friend of mine is just back from Borovets...

Snow was very poor. Lots of ice and mud showing through in places.... and that was on the runs that were actually open.

I guess it can all change very quickly but April may not be great!!

i'm sure i saw on j2ski that there is loads of snow in Pamporovo, and decent amount in Bansko at the moment - Pamporovo is a pretty small area, with no freestyle facitlies, but its cheap and cheerful. Bansko is a decent enough resort, lots of blue and red runs, some nice tree lines stuff, and a good park.

hi, i've booked a week in flaine for apri after going to borovets for the previous 2 years. its worked out quite cheap thus far with rentals, passes and accom. i know it won't be as cheap when there, but hoping there's a better guarantee of late season snow. plus theres appears to a more runs, all linking into otherresorts called 'grande masif'. as i haven't been yet i can't really provide much more information than that. hoping as its all paid for now and knowing how bad the snow conditions were in feb and march previous 2 years i'm hoping this yearwill turn out moe benefitial

cheers for the info, ideally i would love to go back to bulgaria as i know i will have a good time as previous 3 years, but never been this late in the game. so just worried if i book and go and there is no snow then i will gutted beyond belief, failing that my only other option is scotland

There are plenty of very cheap deals around for a week in good high Alpine resorts. You should get somewhere in April for <£300 and you are going to struggle to do Scotland for that price. Also, if considering Scotland, bear in mind that most of the slopes are served by drag lifts.

Hmmm... too true on all counts. My quads despise drag lifts. An early April trip to the alps it could be then
