Hey all, Im thinking of going to Borovets for my first boarding holiday end of January. I wanted to know if any of you have been and was it any good? Most of the online reviews are from skiier's so would like a boarders perspective. I have also looked at several websites but cant seem to find any info on wether they have a park. If anyone has been would be great to hear what you thought of it, cheers |

Snow was very poor last year and it came late , had to bus ppl into bansko for 3 weeks at season start , no park as such , and bansko over all is newer , better runs , and historically better snow over last 5 seasons , and over all is better ( plus alot of ladies of the night hanging round in borovets at night )
but its easier to get up the hill in borovets as its alomost ski in ski out etc , and its slightly closer to airport
and Bansko is alot more boarder friendly too |

hi vicki
borovets is ok for someone just starting out snowboarding/skiing but dont get fooled into thinking its dirt cheap as its not,it used to be th
When you compare what you get for your money its not that cheap, its a small resort with a run down main street with beggers pestering you for money alot of the time. The snowboard hire is crazy with skis and boots looking like they have been stuck in a time warp, the skis and boards have chunks taking out all around them. The so called ski techs are very impatient and will give you kit they is not the correct fi and if you do have a problem they make things arkward changing them. Unless they have changed their stock then i would not hire from borosports and they are far better places to get kit from.
the Snow is a bit hit and miss and i belive feb/march would be a better time to go.
bansko is ment to be the better resort for snowboarding however i have never been their but have just read reports about it.
I stayed in the hotel rila, this hotel is ok but expensive for drinks, the hotel is a prime location so its got its good points.
all in all i`d say you get what you pay for.
oh yes also make sure you check your change before you walk away as they do love to either overcharge you or just short change you this is rife in borovets.
borovets for me was abit to corrupt,at least in france you know what you are going to get charged! |

cant comment on the hire gear in bovorets but i was there a couple of years ago, (been to the main 3 bugarian resorts) and unless there was 10feet of powder, new lifts and all the touts that chase you down the street were on holiday, oh nearly forgot, the whole trip cost less than £100, i wouldnt go back.
i do like bansko tho, will be the 5th time in march. |
