In reply to post #1 ...
In a nutshell, there are loads of alternatives to a Burton Custom - you just need to look! Also depends on what you want to spend but I will assume you want value for money for the meantime.

As a 'heavy lad' you'll probably want a slightly stiffer board - this is because you will have the strength to bend it like a 12 year old skinny lad can with a jib board! Probably looking at a 160-162 minimum for your weight, but remember that the effective edge on some boards can be longer, meaning that you can afford to drop a size or two on the board from your norm. (K2 WWW is a good example of this but it's a jib board).
My reccomendations for a good all mountain board are as folllows:
1. K2 Slayblade (£400)
2. Never Summer SL-R (£465)
3. Forum Destroyer (£360)
4. DC MLF (£329)
5. Ride DH/DH2 (£365)
6. Burton Custom (also comes in a rcker version)
7. Burton Easy Livin (special edition only available through certain authorised Burton dealers)

Have a look at the above on the internet and see what you make of them. There are some more 'progressive' boards like the Atomic Hatchet or K2 Darkstar that might be worth a look as well given your experience, but buy any of the above and you will have a superb all mountain stick that you will not be able to avoid improving on!
