#1 Best Resort in Italy ? Posted 13/07/2010 @ 07:04 |

Hey guys, wasn't sure which forum to post in so I did both! What do you guys think the best resort is in Italy in terms of value, advanced runs and accommodation? My dad and I are planning on booking a trip (we're from Australia) and we have no idea which resort to go to. My dad was originally keen on Cervinia, then I read that it has 'long gentle slopes' and a 'severe lack of trees' which doesn't appeal at all. Any input would be great! Is there a website that specialises in ski trips to Italy? Also if any resorts in the surrounding countries are worth note, please tell me! We'll probably be staying at mid-budget accommodation. Thanks, Stu |

I've not been to too many italian resorts so not sure if I can tell you which is the best but I was in Canazei earlier this year which is linked into the Sella Ronda.
Canazei was really nice if a little quiet. If I was to go again I'd go to one of the resorts actually in the Sella Ronda area such as Arabba or Selva Gardena. Canazei is in the Val Di Fassa next door, but it is linked directly to the SR.
The Sella Ronda is a truly huge and stunning ski area with pistes to suit all abilities. The area is so well linked up that you really can explore all of it quite easily. Great food and reasonable prices in most places too.
Sounds like you will be travelling around a bit. With the Super Dolimiti pass you can go even further afield to places like Cortina on one lift pass. So you could stay in maybe two or three different places and explore the whol Super Dolimit area.
The SR area is near Austria too, so you could easily spend time in both countries.

Courmayeur sounds perfect for you. Lots of advanced runs and its connected to Chamonix and its hug ski area and the highest peak in Europe. Easy to get to from Geneva airport just through the Mont Blanc tunnel. |

The Monterosa resorts of Alagna, Gressonay and Champoluc are well worth a look. |
